Lancaster Mayor Accompanies Law Enforcement on Raids
By Fran Paolinelli

Lancaster — Driving through the darkened streets of Lancaster Tuesday morning, I wondered what top secret event was taking me to the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds long before sunrise.

The only information we had been given was to be at the Poppy Pavilion by 4 a.m.

Reaching the intersection of 20th Street West and Avenue H, I glanced over toward the northbound 14 Freeway off ramp. Cars, lots of cars, mostly black and white Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department patrol cars, were exiting the freeway and heading toward the fairgrounds.

Cresting the top of the overpass, I looked down at the large parking lot of the fairgrounds and realized – this indeed was something big!

The parking lot was filled with patrol and detectives cars. And more were coming behind me.

What was the Sheriff’s Department planning, I wondered.

Inside the Poppy Pavilion, usually filled with festive decorations for community events, I saw hundreds of deputies, detectives and parole agents mingling among the tables and chairs set up to deal with the day’s activities.

Only truly something big would bring so many law enforcement personnel out this early and this far north into LA County.

That something, we quickly learned, was a concentrated effort to eradicate one of the most violent gangs that had this past year begun to call Antelope Valley their home.

The Pasadena Denver Lane Bloods had moved their operations to the Antelope Valley and their goal was to take over and control the local drug trade. Violence was their trademark. They were even brazen enough to shoot a deputy.

The sheriff’s department and local officials had had enough and decided to act.

Almost 500 strong, the deputies, federal and parole agents spread out over the Valley with federal warrants to arrest 23 gang members. Each team was assigned a specific house and at exactly 6 a.m. they knocked on 80 doors at the same time.

Their good morning greeting: “This is the sheriff’s department. We have a federal warrant. Open up.”

Those who were slow to open their doors received an extra wake up call – a flash bang grenade thrown through a window and a battering ram opening the door for them.

Before the morning was over, 16 known gang members were in federal custody, one was giving himself up and the other six were expected to be taken into custody shortly.

The Pasadena Denver Lane Bloods were through in AV.

“Today, we’ve witnessed the eradication of a violent street gang,” said Chief Neal Tyler after the operation was completed and the gang members in custody and on their way to jail.

Tuesday’s action came after at least a year of investigation work, Tyler said.

Along with the arrests on federal warrants, another 27 people were arrested for various crimes or parole violations including possession of cocaine, cocaine for sale, marijuana for sale and ecstasy for sale.

At one home, deputies discovered $11,000 in cash. Rock cocaine with a street value of $10,000 and a handgun were found at another home.

The man with the cocaine and handgun told deputies he was on SSI – a federal income supplement program designed to help aged, blind and disabled people who have little or no income. It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing and shelter.

Along with the arrests of gang members, the Department of Children Services had removed four children from homes unfit for children to live in, according to Lt. Erik Ruble of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Operation Safe Streets.

Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris, who accompanied the deputies Tuesday morning, said the viciousness of the gang could not be understated.

“If they were willing to shoot a deputy, they are not afraid to shoot anyone,” Parris said.

After the operation was completed, Parris said, “Now gangs are afraid to live here. We want to crush them and drive them from our town.”

Parris also cited how safe the operation was because no one got hurt.

“The (gang) houses were taken down in minutes,” Parris said.

He then advised any remaining gang members, “There are better places (for gangs) to live than here because all we want to do is hurt you.”

http://www.avnewstodayonline.com/LancasterPageGangRaids.html

We watched a violent street gang become extinct in Lancaster and Palmdale today. The Lancaster City Mayor rode along and watched as the Sheriff’s department took it to them.

We appreciate your feedback.

I hear a lot of my old friends saying that they don’t like R. Rex Parris for this exact reason…but then I say, this is EXACTLY what is needed. Good, no, GREAT F***ing job, PARRIS!!! That is what I am talking about. I love this quote… “There are better places (for gangs) to live than here because all we want to do is hurt you.”

LOLHAHAHALOLLOVE IT – LOVE IT – LOVE IT!!!

A buddy of mine saw a Hummer at a charity air show that law enforcement attends, and it said donated by Rex Parris. I don’t usually give a politician praise, but this is exactly the kind of stories I like to hear when I hear of public service. Only thing I wonder is it seems as if Parris has a certain pull, and influence even with Federal Law Enforcement, I wonder how much knowledge, and how far this guy is interested in going on a political level.

An excellent point, Harding Republican. For crime in the suites – committed by the likes of Parris himself – is not only far more socially devastating than is crime in the streets, crime in the suites serves to exacerbate crime in the streets.

For the benefit of this forum’s readership. Yes, though I managed to have escaped the slavery known as a “home mortgage” some five years ago, more than one bank “helped” me to gain a trust deed over the years – “helped” me to enter into a one-sided contract in which I would pay up to 300% interest throughout the course of those thirty -year mortgages/thralldoms. And therein lies the very crux of Huey Newton’s rhetorical question: In need of owning one’s shelter and the like, one is forced into accepting the exorbitant terms of those who are in control of the anti-social capitalist system. Therefore, the suggestion that a bank “helped” me is very much akin to stating that a slave-boat captain who plucked a would-be chattel slave from the sea “helped” that chattel slave.

“The Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.”

In a just society, home loans would be administered by government devoid of profit; charging but a yearly administrative fee.

Didn’t you choose to have the bank “help” you? You could have had “shelter” that was not as grand but some sort of selfish reason drove you to accept the demands of the man with the money. You chose to dance with the devil, and you hate him for it.

Funny how you respond to me now, I kind of like it. Of course I expect the volcanic type of blow up any time now. Complete with the liberal-like personalization that accompanies such eruptions.

OK, Cyber…you’re walking yourself into a trap of hipocracy. If you take away “profit” and collect an “administration fee” you are in turn creating a “profit”. By collecting property of monetary value (gold, money, etc.) and calling it a “fee” instead of “profit”, you are just creating a system to wear beaurocrats are the next “big corporations” that don’t reward hard work and innovation. Instead, you get a system that rewards politicians, instead of smarts or hard work or ambition. All of which come INSTINCTIVELY to us Humans. Reward and exercise our humanly traits, and we will truly progress.
What happens when somebody wants to live in a nice neighborhood compared to a run down one? Who will get to live in the bigger houses? Why? Is that fair? Do you think we should all have the same style house? The real world doesn’t work like that. We are Human. We are instinctively competitive. The only way to HONESTLY thrive and make an honest way of living WITHOUT corruption is to ensure profits go to those working for, and creating it. An equal share for everybody stagnates growth, and REAL progressivism.
I hate the fact the word progress is associated with socialists. The only system that truly works and promotes growth AND “progress” is PURE CAPITALISM (which, by the way has been on its way out for a long time now I’m sorry to say).

Only a “just society” has a government, so that makes Marxism or a Marxist economy devoid of being “just.”

FYI, I’m using a dictionary to determine the concept of “just.” Knowing Marxists “just” or for that matter “society” could mean flower or Ford to those unencumbered with word definitions as is our resident Marxist is devoid of that constraint.

HARRISON BERGERON
by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
________________________________________
THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.
Some things about living still weren’t quite right, though. April for instance, still drove people crazy by not being springtime. And it was in that clammy month that the H-G men took George and Hazel Bergeron’s fourteen-year-old son, Harrison, away.
It was tragic, all right, but George and Hazel couldn’t think about it very hard. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn’t think about anything except in short bursts. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.

And here is this local citizen showing his true colors by sliming the effort over a blog site on a thread that has nothing to do with theatre..

What is his purpose? To humiliate me and all the hard working dedicated adults and kids who are making a difference?

By the way, what George Runner pays for rent on his office is public business, not a private transaction since it involves taxpayer dollars.

I guess I’m liberal if being against excessive charges being made to taxpayers is a liberal value.

If it’s true, am I still a liberal Randy? Oh, I get it. That’s what’s called an ad hominem argument. Look it up if you don’t know what it means.

Whatever you have to do mulder.

As far as George Runner losing my support no I’ll still be working to see him get elected.

I do think if going rents were five times less that is eye-opening but it isn’t going to cost George Runner my support.

So please provide the VP articles.

We watched a violent street gang become extinct in Lancaster and Palmdale today. The Lancaster City Mayor rode along and watched as the Sheriff’s department took it to them.

So where was Ledford and his gang in all this? Catching up on beauty sleep?

To answer your question about Where’s Jimbo; At the Palmdale International Airport, Jimbo was under the impression there would be a photo opportunity for some reason or the other.

Somebody in Palmdale needs to do something about Marie Kerr Park. It has become increasingly dangerous since I started walking with a group over there in the evenings. On Monday night, there was a fight that began in the basketball court until the participants moved it into the tennis courts and proceeded to hammer on eachother until there was blood and glass everywhere. Two weeks before that, one of the men who walks with us said that two young men entered a bathroom stall together and were talking openly about “snorting” and arguing openly about a “bag” one of them took into the stall with them. Again, both of the boys originated from the basketball court.

The people of Rancho Vista and West Palmdale pay way too much for their homes and to be able to live in that part of the Valley to be subjected to this kind of garbage at one of Palmdale’s finest parks.

My suggestion: Get rid of the basketball court! Forrest Hull park in Lancaster is where many West Palmdale residents are walking now because Marie Kerr just isn’t that safe anymore.

City of Palmdale was represented at the early morning sweep. It was a sweep conducted by the Sheriff’s Dept. in both cities, not a photo op.

Matthew, sorry to hear that. The City will soon be launching its Park Watch program which will help, I believe, with incidents such as what you reported. However, with all due respect, a lot of basketball is played at Marie Kerr without incident. Also, a lot of walking, a lot of concerts, a lot of swimming, football, soccer, etc. I’ve been there many, many times and have never seen a problem.

Whomeye…sorry..I’m confused a bit. There were two separate Sheriff’s operations that I’m aware of. One was early in the morning on Wednesday that was a sweep that involved both Lancaster and Palmdale sheriff’s dept. There were officials from both city governments at the operation. It really wasn’t a new or unusual earth shattering event; just the best sheriff’s departments in the County doing outstanding work! How the press covered it was up to the press. The other was on Thursday afternoon which was the unveiling of a new “intelligence lead saturation operation.” Palmdale was chosen as the location to unveil this new technology and city staff and elected officials were on hand to see this new technique.

For the past fifteen years I have lived within a very short walking distance of Marie Kerr Park and while I consider it a very safe place if someone were to ask me if people did wrong things there from time to time I would say of course they do. People do wrong things in every part of every city all over the world.

But I also know that my husband and I walk this neighborhood all the time at night, and pass a lot of neighbors along the way. And speaking of our neighbors, a few doors down is a Palmdale librarian, across the street is a member of law enforcement, many of them are fellow Kiwanians, and my husband’s co-workers. The rest get up very early every day to make the trek “down below” to earn the money to pay the taxes to support all the ones that don’t. So how about focusing on the much higher percentage of “right” being done around here?

So it wasn’t the Lone Rex Ranger knocking heads? Others were there? I don’t believe it. Surely the media would have mentioned that, right?
