Okay ACLU, Where are You?" An AV News Commentary
With all of the “Intervention” by the ACLU, just where are they?

A.C.L.U. – WHERE ARE YOU?
The ACLU has in the past shown that they want to interpret the U.S. Constitution. One part in particular is the separation of Church and State. Because of that, there can be no Christian activities on state/government supported schools. There can be no renting of facilities for Christian activities as well as restrictions of the use and display of Christmas materials.

O.K. A.C.L.U. – Where are you? Many, many schools are bending over backward (forward) to make sure that Muslim children have times to pray. They have set aside rooms and prayer mats for the purpose. This practice is being done despite the fact that a religion is being allowed in a public school system. What the hell is the difference? Is a Muslim more important that a Christian? Are we afraid to offend? So what if they do not get to pray five times a day? Adapt! What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the camel.! ACLU – get off your dead butts and fix this or stay out of the way!

Speaking of that?
The Identity Problem.
We can solve a lot of difficulties by starting something that the Germans and the Russians did and probably still do. “Where Are Your Papers?” at the time was something to fear. But in this day of not knowing just who your neighbor is, or just who is getting on the airplane with you, the country needs a good, secure ID Card, and requiring everyone over the age of, say 16, to carry it at all times in public. Technology is such that such a card can readily be produced in a secure manner. What about privacy? What privacy? When you leave your residence, you no longer can expect privacy. There are too many television cameras and monitors for you to expect that you can remain ‘out of sight’. And if you are doing nothing wrong, then why would you be worried about privacy?
But if you are trying to hide something, then someone else needs to know, So when asked, bring out your National ID Card, show it when asked, and go on with your life.

and finally…
The DUI Problem…
Back East, a man has been told by the court that he has been permanently forbidden from driving a motor vehicle because of his history of driving under the influence of alcohol. In fact, this individual has been permanently banned from driving SIX TIMES! Just how are we to deal with this situation? What if your wife or child or husband were victims of a vehicle accident caused by this individual? Would you be accepting and merciful? Or would you take things to the point of making this individual room temperature? For all intents and purposes, the legal system just does not have a solution to this. After all, alcoholism is a disease, and you cannot punish someone for their disability. The case is open. By all means, if you have a suggestion or recommendation to make this situation go away, let’s hear it. Higher gas price is one of the lesser reasons why the author tries not to expose him and his family to the roads and traffic. It’s dangerous out there when we can’t seem to keep the drunks off the road. There! I said it. Drunks! Not alcoholics! Drunks. Make the first offense loss of vehicle. That would be a good start.

Is it really an invasion of privacy if asked for identification by a Law Enforcement Officer?

Is it okay for Muslim students to pray in school, but all other faiths denied?

We’d love to hear from you.

News..
Let us suppose that you run smack-dab through a red light and a sheriff puts on the lights and stops you. At that time, could/can you tell the officer that you “just don’t have any stupid identification” and go on your way? I don’t think so.
I have been to several different countries and have been asked many times for a visa, passport and even a drivers license so that their government can KNOW WHO I AM. Did it bother me? Absolutely not!
Already there are cameras hidden at super-markets, up in lightpoles, on the sides of buildings, etc. Who cares? If one has nothing to hide and is obeying the laws, so be it.

newsday,

It all depends on if the AZ LE types are following the US Constitution 4th Amendment on searches.

Stopping people for driving while Brown, or Black, not so much.

Before the crazy’s start up, AZ has shown ever indication that they are going to be damn careful about honoring the 4th, so I have little problem with what they are doing. I might have wanted to see the immigration status checks done when someone is placed in custody, a very legal term by the way, and have those checks done at a police station, but AZ went a bit further.

Thanks Steve, but shouldnt it be “okay” to inquire if the LEO feels there is probable cause? Prior to being arrested for anything I mean?

I’ve seen a limited number of LE types do really dumb things, why put a tool in their hands that is way easy to misuse?

I still say that AZ would have been smarter to have made the bar for these checks a bit higher and made it one of if you are under arrest, we are going to check your immigration status, always. To place someone under arrest is a big deal according to the Constitution as you are impinging on someone’s greatest right, freedom.

True..some, as in all professionas, do stupid stuff. However, if probable cause is abundant that the person being detained is committing another crime, i.e. illegal status, then shoudnt an LEO investigate further?

Just my opinion, but shouldnt LEO’s be allowed to do their jobs to the fullest extent the law and their training?

Wouldnt it be prudent to wait and see if any of the provisions of the new law are violated before we doubt its effectiveness? Just because we “think” it might be abused, doesnt mean it will be, right?

The ACLU has a liberal agenda. Liberals love religion, as long as it is not Christianity. Ban anything to do with Christianity from public buildings and schools. The left will bend over backwards to support a so called minority group practicing Islam.
That is because Islam was the enemy of President Bush. Most liberals were against anything President Bush did, and the insurgents in Iraq, prisoners in Gitmo and Abu Garabe were and are protrayed as victims. We need to cater to all their needs, giving them the ethnic foods, the Kuran, and a Mosque in New York at ground zero.

Just another example of how the left cherishes our enemies and denounces the religion that was a basis for the founding of our country.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to read that portion.

It is our opinion that if Christians must keep church and state separate, then all religions must toe the line.

It all works together. We are told to enforce this law or that law, not to enforce this law or that one, then we can pray but we cant pray….opinions only of course, but it seems like “dazed and confused” has taken hold of our government.

Arizona’s enforcement of existing immigration laws is working. Other states should take note.

Illegals are flocking out of Arizona.

138, since you are so enamored at having government poking its head into your life, you ought to read 1984 by George Orwell.

Also, there is a big difference between driving a car down the road and walking down the street. If a police officer walked up to me on the street and asked me for my identification, I would ask him (or her) what he/she needed it for. If I am not breaking any laws, I have the right to be left alone.

You might have really enjoyed life under the Soviet Union. Law and order at its finest.

well, i would have to say no one in the av is bending over backwards for muslims, unless certain local christians declaring jihad on them counts.

also i don’t see them forcing their version of god on us at ALL city functions.

haven’t had to give them 6.2 million tax dollars in parks or free infrastructure.

a YMCA for a christian school.

or 5 or 6 free houses to set up as indoctrination centers in neighborhoods!

damn muslims.

Wrong again; Harding lib…
There was a case that eventually was decided by the Supreme Court whereas a motorist sued his local police department because they noticed he was repairing his truck alongside of the road and they asked him for identification.
The motorist said, “what for” and that he did not ask or need assistance from the police department. The police STILL asked for identification. He sued..Appeal upon appeal! Supreme Court ruled that YES..ya do need to prove who you are when asked by law enforcement.
You’d know this harding lib if ya weren’t so "infaturated with R. Rex Parris and everything the man does.

Harding,

Speaking of Orwell, look at this so called Financial reform bill. Buried in its 2,300 pages are mandates that the Gub’mt can look into all of your credit card activities and the “commission” being created can decide which institutions are too risky and can close them down without congressional oversight..

Big brother, Obama, is here folks..

This Gub’mt only follows rules they like.. Sue Arizona for interfering with Federal Law, but leave Sanctuary cities, who refuse to follow Federal laws alone..

How does that work?
