Deputies Arrest 16 for Panhandling, Loitering In Home Depot Parking Lot
Lancaster – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s CORE and TOP team members conducted two raids of the Lancaster Home Depot parking lot and took 16 people into custody Thursday morning.

The raids were done because of complaints received by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich’s office.

“There we reports of aggressive panhandling and even minor assaults,” said Deputy Mike Rust.

“People were being assaulted or in fear of being assaulted,” he said.

In the first raid held early in the morning, deputies chased and arrested 13 males – most in the 20s and 30s. In a later raid, three men were arrested.

“Most of them did not have valid identification so we will take them to the station and wait for them to be identified. If they can provide proper identification, they will be cited for panhandling and loitering and then released,” Rust said.

Anyone not able to provide proper identification will be turned over to the immigration department, Rust added.

Asked whether the Sheriff’s Department will conduct other sweeps of the area, Rust said that it depends on if there are any more complaints.

“It’s not just a Lancaster problem,” he said. “It is a statewide issue. People congregate in parking lots asking for money.”

We tend to agree with the Sheriff’s Department and the City of Lancaster leaders on this. Our town, if it’s going to be safe, has to be safe for everyone to shop or visit localities without this type of problem…that’s our opinion, we welcome yours.

“Panhandling” to a right-winger is simply being poor and having enough humility to ask for money or work. An “assault” means that the right-winger probably got in their faces and told them to “go back to Mexico” or “get a job” and the already humiliated man took offence. I’ve seen it played out so many times already.

Matt, A week ago I went to the Home Depot in Lancaster to buy an American Flag for the holiday weekend. As I exited my car, a man approached me and grabbed my arm and asked me for money. He grabbed my arm from behind while I was walking from my car to the entrance. I jerked my arm from him and told him no. He then commented: “Come on white boy, I can see that fat wallet in your back pocket.” When I entered the store, I asked for a manager and pointed out the man, who was cornering another customer on the way into the store. Was I wrong? Should I have called you and asked you for guidance. Your assumptions are amazing. Give me your phone number and the next time I go to Home Depot I’ll come pick you up and take you with me.

There are signs the sheriff department posted a while back regarding loitering.

I call them when I go to Lancaster HD and they site them.

Looks like I won’t have worry as much about getting stuff taken out of my truck. Contractors have been ripped off many times there. I would know.

Why don’t you let them loiter on your property, Matt? They can sit there and wait for work. Put your money where your mouth is, hypocrite.

What they do is when you go in the store, they have a lookout keep an eye on you in the store while their buddy is jacking stuff out of your truck/car.

Tom Knox,

I won’t condone what happened to you. I wouldn’t blame you for calling the sheriff if you did. On the other hand, though, think of how these men must feel. In the good times, when the economy was booming, they were used for menial labour, nobody complained. I heard some of my uncle’s friends tell him that when they had their pools put in or their yards re-landscaped, they just “went to HomeDepot and picked up a bunch of Mexicans”. Now that the economy is shitty, people are saying, “send the Mexicans home”. Put yourself in their shoes. How would that make you feel? They shouldn’t have been vengeful toward you but they were.

Again, what happened to you is awful and I wish it hadn’t occurred.

My only concern is, since when did we become a nation of obey “only those laws we wish to”? The law is clear on being “illegal”, hence the word “illegal”.

I dont feel like driving 55 anymore, is that okay to disobey today? I dont feel like paying taxes like most of my southern brothers fail to do, is that okay for today as well? I also feel like sending all of my earnings to my relatives in Yonkers, is that okay too?

Anyone who hires “illegals” should be held accountable. Whether it is a person having a pool put in or a business hiring them to skirt American labor laws.

Exploitation is what started this mess and “finally” someone is taking a stand…I say Good for the Sheriff’s Department and Supervisor Antonovich for taking a stand.

Tom Knox, you showed great control, I would have put someone on their azz.

Go after the businesses next and make an example out of those who exploit humanity and put “American Citizens” back to work, or is that a racist thought?

My point exactly Matt, the direction must be taken against the employers…the employers exploit these people. To label it as a “rightwinger” agenda as some have done is stupid at best.

The left and right line their pockets on others misery. If the government had the nuts we wish they had, this problem could get solved and the fines could help educate “citizens” to help them back on their feet.

Exactly. Many illegals think they have a right to be here. They think we owe them something. They need to know most Americans don’t want them here, and respect our laws.

Driving 60 in a 55 isn’t an equivalent violation. Doesn’t hurt Americans nearly as much as 20 million illegals have. Thanks to our government.

When you help your corporate buddies crush the unions, as Reagan did in the 1980s, American workers will be laid off. Reagan also granted amnesty to undocumented workers while he was in office. Do you think this was a coincidence?

So, you have a flood of undocumented labor working in hotels, restuarants, fast food chains, car washes and standing in the Home Depot parking lot.

Nobody said a thing when the economy was booming and Reagan crushed the unions. Nobody said a thing when he granted undocumented workers amnesty. Nobody had a problem staying in a hotel in L.A., Laughlin or Vegas staffed by undocumented workers. Nobody cared that their chef wasn’t in the country legally.

Now that these people are here, have families and are human beings – gasp! – with human ailments such as sickness and illiteracy, nobody wants to deal with them. We used them for what they were good for and now we want them out! No health care! No education! Just go!

And then some actually ponder why there is resentment? Amazing!

Working class democrats and rank and file union members have been financially destroyed, intentionally by their own leadership. The American working class wants to deal with the Illegal trespassers, and they will. Reagan fucked up. Poor decision. So did Bush and Obama. And now that it’s gotten this out of control, people have had enough and are doing something about it. First Arizona, then soon an additional 15 or 20 states have proposed the same.

And you are wrong. I was involved with this issue before any recession, along with thousands of others. I did the research. The murders, rapes, victims, schools and hospitals stretched thin, then shut down, jobs lost to illegals.

Your recent Prez Admins all playing the same game. It’s not a republican or democrat problem. Republicans fucked up too much and were on the same wagon.

Yeah, I’m adament(sp who cares) about this issue. As I got older I felt like I had to do something and get involved so that my kids and grandkids won’t end up in a 3rd world rathole. Somebody’s gotta care. 5 years ago I didn’t care what happened here. Now I do. Still hate politics. Too many crooks and dummies that have no business being politicians. Most couldn’t run a recycle stand.

That’s why they became politicians.

I have no tolerance for Americans that support our government’s current stance on this issue.

Fine the shit out of employers, put up a decent fence and enforce it, and deport. You deport people that are here ILLEGALY. What a thought.

And you wouldn’t even have to do much deporting because fining an employer $50G will give other employers the msg.

Many aliens will go home on their own. More jobs, less crime, more money, etc.

America won’t be a “third world” nation. The Hispanics were one of the most upwardly-mobile immigrant groups before the economic crash. They were becoming educated, opening businesses, sending their own children to university and contributing to the tax base and the Social Security base. Also, the number of Hispanic men and women in the U.S. military is disproportionate to their actual population, meaning, the percentage of Latinos in the U.S. military is higher than their percentage of the population. Hispanic workers were also contributing to – and boosting – Social Security, which is being tapped at unprecedented levels by aging Baby Boomers. Long-term programmes like Medicaid and Social Security are completely reliant on the Hispanic workforce and high birthrate to sustain them for the future and present generation of recipients. The non-Hispanic White birthrate is not high enough to sustain these programmes that you will be partaking in and needing in the future. So, when you kick all of these Latinos out (who have contributed to the fund) and there is nothing left for your children and no available programme, don’t let your spirit go wild if you see one of them spit on your grave and “thank” you for leaving them with nothing. Then again, by that time, the U.S. and it’s workforce might be a Chinese colony, so who knows?

Like an octopus the cost of Illegal Aliens reaches into every part of American life.

Illegals displaced $133 a year in displacement of American workers. College and high school students can not find summer jobs any more.

Each year $120 billion of hard currency leaves America for good, to pay the Mexican drug lords, for the drugs carried in by Illegal Aliens.

You, american taxpayers, pay $1.6 billion every year to feed cloth and house those wonderful mexican rapist, murderors and drug distributors that are filling 30 percent of Americas federal and state prisons.

And, don’t forget those wonderful anchor babies. More than 300,000 women annually arrive pregnant and drop the Illegal on Ammerican soil. You pay $109 billion annually for each 300,000 illegal moms and their illegal kids. Welfare, education and medical service for at least 18 years.

The annual head of household cost for each Illegal Alien is 2,700 in welfare money over and above anytaxes he or she pays in their meager paying jobs.

It cost $200 million to proved for emergency health are for Illegal Aliens in the Border states, each year.

So when we kick all the trespassers out look at the money we will save.

I hate to sound cruel, BUT ITS ABOUT FREEKING TIME. I am sick of pumping gas, having meth-heads walk up to me and ask for money for gas. I am sick of leaving the ATM and having someone hit me up for money.

I know people are hurting, but maybe they can learn a lesson from a fellow at one of our local 711’s. About two weeks ago, I parked my car, and walked into the 711. This homeless guy had some towels and glass cleaner. He was cleaning the windows on cars without asking for money. He cleaned my windows, and I gave him $5. I could have easily driven off without giving him anything. I have a feeling he made a killing with donations from customers that day. At least he was willing to work.

The Burbank Home Depot does have a shelter built for the day labor force. One complaint still looming there is the illegals still congregate at the other places away from Home Depot. That politically correct bandaid fix of a shelter did nothing to solve the problem. Also, Home Depot was forced to build the shelter by the Burbank City Council or they were not going to get approved to build the store there.

You won’t see that in Lancaster.

There are a couple of issues at play here: (totally ignoring the obvious debate)
1) R Rex Parris goes to that Home Depot and it’s possible that he needed to go there later as some point on Thursday and called in the ‘cleaners’ before he rolled the R8 into the parking lot.
2)The panhandlers that frequent that Home Depot are VERY aggressive and at the least – verbally abusive.
After the Lakers championship win they were selling knockoff t-shirts and approached us. I asked if he had a mobile vendor permit/license and permission from the manager of Home Depot to sell the merchandise. He made a raciest comment to me and I offered to call the police. I pulled out my phone and proceeded into Home Depot.

Bottom line is that I don’t care where I go, if there is a sign that says “no loitering, no panhandling or even no smoking” I expect it to be enforced. AND I will speak up when it is not.

Laws are put in place to protect the public, just because an individual thinks that they are exempt from said law doesn’t give them the right to ignore it.
