McCain, it is (unfortunately)
Polls from various news organisations found that a substantial number of Hillary Clinton’s Democratic and Independent supporters would cross party lines and vote for Republican John McCain if Barack Obama took the Democratic nomination.
I regret to inform you that I am one of them. I’ll be joining a loose coalition of disgruntled liberal Clinton supporters, socially-conservative union members, left-leaning Catholics, quite a few Jews and many Hispanics.
After having enthusiastically voted for Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004, I will vote for John McCain, with little—if any—enthusiasm, in 2008.
To me, Barack Obama is a farce. He has made just as many gaffes as George W. Bush, yet, the mainstream media are reluctant to point this out. Instead, we must rely on rightist blogger-journalists like Michelle Malkin or Ann Coulter to get an objective view of the guy.
Whats more, I find Obama’s ties to vitriolic, xenophobic, anti-Semitic and homophobic ministers highly disturbing.
One of my stronger “conservative” (I actually prefer the term libertarian) streaks tends to be my support for the Second Amendment as enabling citizens the right to bear arms. Obama’s record in this area is shoddy at best.
I don’t believe John McCain is a war-monger at heart, nor a homophobe or xenophobe, but he must make motions in those directions to capture the farthest right of his party.
Obama, on the other hand, says one thing while his associations seem to say another. I think that’s just creepy. What’s creepier to me, however, is the gloss-over the media is doing on him. Why the fierce push to get this man in office? I can only think of him as a type of Manchurian candidate.
Having been either a registered Democrat or Independent for almost my entire voting life, I never thought I’d see the day when I voted for a Republican president.
I can only hope though, that McCain has retained some of the qualities from his “maverick” days of sponsoring bipartisan Senate legislation in favour of patients who struggle with America’s lopsided health care industry and those who immigrate to the U.S. for economic opportunities and enrich the American experience.
In short, I expect McCain to govern from the ideological centre of politics.

wow Matt ! I am proud of you for writing this blog and for seeing things some refuse to see. You know I am a repub but in the past, I have voted outside my party and felt it worthy to do so. Obama is very scary and his changed he still hasn’t explained in any degree that I feel is the right change.

You are making the right move Matt, we find ourselves without any one good enough to be the president of the United States. But on the other hand we cannot do what Martel is stating above and not vote for McCain and make sure Obama doesn’t win.

Excellent post Poof and very, very funny. Corporate America wants another brain dead President in office so that they can continue on with their unadulterated greed and pilfering the pockets of every single American who isn’t a millionaire.

Matt,
Thanks for exposing these facts about this guy. I am not happy that the citizens of our country have stooped so low to settle for McCain when there are so many more others that, at least seem to be better.
Unfortunately, I too will have to vote for him only to keep the filthy ideologies from Obama and Clinton out of the White House. Unfortunately, with McCain, I doubt we could say too much different for him as well.
All in all, I think we are headed for big trouble. May God have mercy on us and not give us what we really deserve.

Well one good thing comes out of the Democratic nomination process, at least now Democrats have come to their senses and are now nominating a Man and not some shrill woman. Maybe Hillary can work on learning how to stay in the kitchen and bake cookies.
Now that the steam coming from your head is starting to clear….
Just pulling your leg. Hillary would have given McCain a much better race for sure. To be blunt, a Black man with a liberal track record and a liberal voting record is not going to win, and Republicans probably deserve to loose this election, but they won’t.

Ray Cunneff says...
From the RNC today:
Dear _,
Barack Obama wrapped up the Democrat presidential nomination last night.
The liberal special interest money machine is already rallying around their presumptive nominee.
Big Labor, Trial Lawyers, MoveOn.org and other radical protest groups have pledged to spend at least $750 million to defeat Republicans and elect liberal Democrat Barack Obama president. One union head has said, “Losing is not an option, so money is not an object.”
These leftist special interests expect payback in the form of passing their tax-and-spend, ultraliberal agenda if the Democrats seize complete control of the government. And since he is the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate, they know Obama will succumb to their demands.
On top of what the left-wing establishment plans to spend, Obama has raised more than $277 million during his campaign. And tonight he plans to add to his campaign coffers by hosting a fundraiser in New York City to celebrate his victory.
We can overcome the Democrats’ mountains of campaign cash and elect John McCain and Republicans at all levels committed to lower taxes, a strong national defense, limited government and individual freedom. But we need your help to do it, __.
We already know Obama’s vision for the future:
Implement massive tax increases that punish hardworking American families in order to pay for new government bureaucracies;
Government takeover of our health care system;
Sit down for talks in his first year with tyrants like Cuba’s Castro and Iran’s Ahmadinejad without any preconditions; and,
Raise the white flag of surrender in the war against radical Islamic extremism and cut off funding for our men and women in uniform.
We cannot allow a return of the high taxes, big government, and weakened national security style of governing Barack Obama embodies.
Please make a secure online contribution of $1,000, $500, $100, $50, or $25 to help the RNC provide all our Republican candidates—from the Courthouse to the White House—with the resources they need to win.
Your help is vital. America’s security and prosperity are at stake if left-wing extremists get their way and Barack Obama is our next president.
That’s why I hope you will take a moment right now to make a secure online contribution of $1,000, $500, $100, $50, or $25 to help fully fund the campaign programs and spread our message of reform and renewal to voters. Thank you.
Best Wishes,
Robert M. “Mike” Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committe
P.S. __, the RNC is the ONLY Party committee permitted by law to directly support our Republican presidential nominee. The RNC also provides more financial assistance and campaign services to Republican candidates than any other Party organization. Please make an urgent online campaign contribution of $1,000, $500, $100, $50, or $25 to the RNC today to support our candidates up and down the ticket.
Thank you.

Hey Judy,
I want to thank you as well for exposing Obama. He reminds me of W. Bush with those big EARS.
Unfortunately, just like Bush he does not use them to listen too well to what the people say.
I despise the way Obama attempts to “psyche” the crowds of people he orates to, as if he is “The Rock” from the World Wrestling Federation or something.
He tries to stare down into the camera as if he thinks he is doing some type of Vulcan “Mind Meld” to the viewers.
Only the weak minded will fall prey to the likes of him.
Thanks to Obama, I have kept Mr. Clean wealthy by having the need to clean my toilet bowl on a daily basis.
You do not know what effect Hilary has on me! Ha-ha-ha
Thanks again for the post/video, it was fun to watch.

Yes Palmdale Steve,
Obama may be a church goer but I cannot judge if he is a Christian.
In my most humble opinion I doubt he really is.
If one takes a look at his “former home church” and view their doctrinal statements, it is sort of hard to determine if True Christianity is really even preached there.
Furthermore, just because someone goes to “church” does not mean they are not idiots. Nor does it mean they are Christians.
Trust me I should know, after all I do stupid stuff from time to time too. I just try not to make it a habit.
But most think that all of us at that “BIG FAT BAPTIST CHURCH” are idiots anyhow, so what is your point?
Hey, are you going to let me know what you thought about my radiometric and creation debates under bear’s blog “what should be done about global warming?”

However, if you do comment please try to keep it clean. Thanks, :o)

Matt:
I must admit that I too will vote, reluctantly, for McCain. I don’t have any fire in the belly for the guy; however, I believe he is a great American. And, believe me, he is not doing a lot for the right wing of the party. He knows they have nowhere else to go.
I’m a gun-owning, flag-waving, libertarian leaning conservative. Not the kind that the country club Republicans like a whole lot. The religious right probably wouldn’t like me much either.
I am a firm believer in the Bill of Rights who thinks that the phony war on drugs is just another big government spending program. I believe that people who believe law enforcement personnel are somehow super-citizens puts us in danger of a police state. And that big spending Republicans are as big a danger to the Republic as big spending Democrats.
We are Americans. We do not have royalty, status or cast. We believe in Lex Rex, not Rex Lex. Our motto is “In God we trust.” Our allegiance is but to one flag, and one creed, “E Pluribus Unum.” Reliance on ones own ability to govern their own affairs without interference from meddling bureaucrats. Plus we have the right that no other government on earth allows, “the right to keep and bear arms.” I also believe that the Judeo-Christian ethos has brought about the greatest liberty the earth has ever seen.
Now just watch as some meathead tries to put words in my mouth that I never said.
Best wishes,
Stormy

MK I can’t understand why you will vote for McCain. Since homosexual marriage is your signature item and judges seem to be the way to make it happen, Obama is more likely to appoint judges that will guarantee an America you want.

Cagy Wolf says...
Rather vote for someone who stands for what I believe then someone like Obama who will give amnesty to the illegal aliens. Reagan did it in 1987 for 3 million and now we have 30 million illegal aliens. Close the border, stop the free hand outs and deport every thug and the illegal alien problem will go away. Americans are expected to obey every law so why should illegals be the exception? Wait until you or a loved one is a victim and then see how soon you change sides. I used to think like all of you until I lost jobs, low pay and being a victim and watching friends become victims before I woke up. No, I will no vote for Obama.

I’d say that isn’t very Cagy. If Obama gets elected because someone votes for a Ross Perot then I will point my finger at you and say, we get this because of you.

Hussein Obama is just a street punk union thug from Chicago. Long time to go until Novemember and rest assured that the RNC is not sitting on their arse about this guy.
He is a marxist with full black support and college type support, but that won’t get him over the finish line. Mc Cain is only 5 points down to this “rock star” kind of candidate and this is amazing as Juan and the RNC haven’t even begun to fight yet.
Unless Hussein polls constantly over a 50% threshold in most polling, he will lose. Just look back at Kerry’s poll numbers last general election.
There is also the “wife” issue (or) problem and this racist woman is even less popular than Heinz Kerry.

I foresee the “glitter” falling from this marxist ever so slowly from now until the election. Perhaps there will be a “swift boat” campaign also against Hussein.

I’d rather have McCain than Obama, how quickly everyone forgot that he wouldn’t say the Pledge, put his hand on his heart, or even wear an American flag pin, and there are still a bunch of Anti Americans willing to vote for him.Shame on all of them
I pray everyday he doesn’t get elected.
I served in the USAF, for a presidential nominee not even say the Pledge of Allegiance or wear and American flag pin, Disgraceful and very UnAmerican
