The cost of Iraq
The above counter was activated on March 20, 2003 as a coalition of U.S. and international forces began the invasion of Iraq.
Just something to think about every time you hear a conservative Republican mention what a “waste” of money Social Security and other necessary programmes are.

Dubya’s War only cost the taxpayers half a trillion bucks? Chicken feed!

Only a small portion, of the toal cost, of the accumulated deceit of the Iraq War, is in. The entire truth will only become apparent when the liars are no longer in control.
A very definite gage of the cost of the War in Iraq, is regrettably experienced by American’s each and every day, as they buy gasoline, groceries or pay utility bills. Make no mistake about it. Taking Iraq oil off line has cost every American dearly. In many cases it has cost Americans their house, their job and their future.
Anyone buying into the “Terrorist are going to kill us ALL” while the borders were left wide open, is a fool. That con-job was ment to take your eyes off the ball, while Iraq oil could be stolen by BIG OIL, and their profits, at your expense, could launch into solar orbit.

The Iraq invasion has cost America more than any war in American history. It has cost us our moral sole. Never before has an American administraton allowed corporate America to lead a military invasion of a foreign nation. History will expose the commercial greed that led to the corporate genocide and killing of innocent civilians of Iraq, to gain profit control of their oil and territory. History will show that the war was waged in pursuit of economic strategies that have caused the death and injury of millions of Iraqis. The population of Iraq has been sacrificed in the name of corporate profit. Millions of innocent Iraqi civialians have been killed. This War has cost America the respect of humankind.

Not true at all highground, if we did it all for the oil companies, why not just hand the money spent on the war to them? More to the story than oil.

The truth is obvious to the active duty American military personnel stationed in Iraq. Open your minds and look at the record. The suicide rate among US soldiers has reached its highest level since records began.
Take your military back. End the Corporate Genocide, GET OUT OF IRAQ NOW!

Yes the truth is obvious, I’ve talked to a lot of the service men that served in Iraq and I get a different story than yours. I guess its just who you want to listen to.

It has been my life experience that some are so busy talking that they have no time to listen.

That is true, maybe you should spend more time listening Highground.

Is the world really a safer place since we financed Haliburton and the oil companies continuting extrafigant and bloody conquest of Iraq? If blood and gore is any criteria, there is no question who is winning. Their form of terrorism is not match for ours. They kill only a handful, maybe twenty or thirty on the streets of Iraq. Our form of terrorism, Shock and Awe, kills by the millions on the streets of Iraq.
Many say that defeating the enemy in Iraq, will make it less likely we will face the enemy terrorist here. If there is such a thing as a foreign terrorist enemy, why do we leave our borders open and unprotected?
Withdraw the corporate terrorist now. Bring the troops home.

There is no question or any doubt the the corporate military invasion of Iraq, is a moral and strategic blunder. Most of the American people are finally becoming aware of the economic disaster caused by the foolish nonsense of the so-called war on terror in Iraq.
Get out of Iraq Now. Waste no more lives or money. It is a fools game.

I will agree with you on getting out of Iraq, but you just don’t load up and leave. People will die, a lot of people if we do that. I wonder if the EPA had anything to do with looking for those wmd’s?

Most of us that have served in the military know that war is about death and destruction. Continuing unnecessary war is an expansion of death and destruction without purpose. Five years is more than enough time. Death and destruction has failed. The war in Iraq has failed. END IT. Let them and ours live.
The deficit of the 3 Trillion dollar federal budget, a very unreeasonable level of federal spending, is what we need to be concerned with. Not more killing of innocents in Iraq. The Iraq war is not the best use of American taxpayer funds.
The government spending devoted to Iraq, is not generating jobs in the USA. Most of the manufacturing needs of the military are performed oudtside the boundaries of the USA. In order to survive as a nation we need to spend the resources generated for the foolish Iraq incursion within the boundaries of the USA. Spend on education, health care, and the infrastructure. Unless we do, we will be unable to generate prosperity for the future, and could find our nations survival at risk.
End the War now.

I was jusst wondering Matt (and “poof” might be interested, too) – have you read about or heard of Peace Pilgrim? I think you could call her a folk hero, at least that’s the best description of her I can come up with.
You may enjoy her story. If you Google “Peace Pilgrim” a link for her website will come up.
I’d have loved to have met this fascinating lady.

Wow Marilyn, thanx for bringing the peace pilgrim back to my mind. She was truly a women of peace. I love this quote.
“This is the way of peace.
Overcome evil with good,
Falsehood with truth,
And hatred with love.”

and i can guarantee you there are more soldiers who would attest to their pride at serving their country with honor. funny how you omit the stories of the women who are no longer getting raped and tortured, or how kids are now going to school, or how iraqi citizens are able to walk the streets without fear, and how these brave men and women have stopped the genocide under saddam.
war is ugly, war is absurd and there is no solider i have ever served with or have known who loves war. but all of them i know love their country, were willing to die for their country and i am only sorry age has made it impossible for me to serve again. once a warrior always a warrior and i am proud of it.
That says it all..

Marino: Inexpensive so far? No matter what it is compared too, the fact that the funding that is used to kill and mame too many people could be spent on helping out our own country. We have a horrendous problem with getting health coverage for all, homelessness, crime, infastructure issues, borders that let criminals through. Let us not forget we even need to improve treatment for our vets a great deal more than exists now. Let’s fix the USA.

War Cost as percentage of Total Federal Expenditures: WWI 123.01, WWII 238.6, Korea 60.6, Vietnam 36.7, Iraq 18.3. —Free Republic.
Relatively inexpensive. So far.
