Assembly Candidate Linda Jones Chooses Her Political Campaign Over Paying Her Taxes
by Jon Fleischman
All along the path of life, we are all constantly forced to make choices. It is those choices that we make the define us as a person
Lots of people in the High Desert of San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties are having financial problems. The number of foreclosures and bankruptcies have been higher the last couple of years than ever before.
It might be understandable that the Democrat nominee for the 36th Assembly District, Linda K. Jones, declared bankruptcy this last February. (See bankruptcy documents linked below.) What can’t possibly be explained is her choice to donate money to her political campaign before paying off the taxes she owes to the state and federal government from 2008, let alone the rest of her lengthy list of creditors.
Her recently discovered bankruptcy filing from February has brought to light that during 2008, Jones failed to pay both State and Federal income taxes. As listed on page 22 of her bankruptcy filing, Linda Jones is $2,333 delinquent in her payment of State Income taxes. (See Page 22 linked below.) She also owes $3,523 to the Federal Government.
This brings her total back taxes owed to $5,856.
However, at the same time she failed to pay her taxes, she was contributing heavily to her own campaign. On March 12, 2010, she paid $2,650 in fees associated with filing her candidacy paperwork. Three days later, she loaned her campaign an additional $3,000. These two expenses total $5,650, or would have paid off all but $206 of her tax debt.
The spending priorities in Sacramento clearly don’t reflect the priorities of the people in the high desert. Linda Jones’ priorities would appear to be perfectly in line with the tax and spend members of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
With candidates like these, it will only make an already bad 2012 for Democrats even worse.

Hey Roxi, Do you think Linda Jones should have paid her taxes before she contributed money to her Assembly campaign after filing bankruptcy? Or; do you believe that she was right to wring everything she could out of the government before she went belly-up? There’s talk on the street that she is going to quit the campaign, would you agree with that? Last, do you , as a liberal, also believe that the government owes you a living?

I have no opinion about Linda Jones’ plans, but I’m sure you dirtbags had a lot to do with it. It’s the only way you can win elections, as you certainly do not have anyone who’s an American Patriot, only lap-dogs who step-and-fetch-it.

Hate and never taking responsibilty for their decision is all you hear from the dems. It’s always GW’s fault! It’s never “I made a poor decision, bought a home I couldn’t afford.” Or never “I lived above my means, charged whatever I wanted and I did not restrain myself.”
I have never failed to pay what I have owed, on time never late on a payment. My family did without at times but the bills were paid on time.
And I suppose Linda will blame the economy and lenders that that made it too easy for her, or student loans that are too costly. Never that she did not restrained her and live within her means.

Islander..
There are a handful of bloggers here like roxi, lanc, kelter, sky and ray cineff. NO MATTER what fact(s) or proof (anyone) presents, they simply change the question and go off on a tangent about race, “I want government” to protect me, and some other such marxist doctrine.
Evidently they were all bored by blogging amongst themselves on Marsh’s leftist/marxist site and decided to return here. It does no good at all to even attempt to dialogue with these people because EVERYTHING with them boils down to either “race” or placing blame on a former President who left office almost 2 years ago.

If she is not arrested for bankruptcy fraud, or even if she is arrested, she should quit the campaign and the Democratic Party should do what ever they need to do to put up a candidate that is not going to be embarrassed on election day. If she doesn’t this will put the Democratic Party back 20 years in the AV.
I want the money I contributed back. How dare she use it to pay her family members.

roxi how can you blame anyone but Linda. I can understand filing for bankruptcy. I can’t believe she thought she would keep it a secret.

dem, why would she be arrested? is filing 4 bankruptcy now illegal?
i thought linda was never anything more then a moderate republican, so she never got my vote to begin with.
wanted shawntrice watkins to win the primary, and volunteered on her campaign, so to bad about linda.
bad choice to begin with.
i love how the repugs here want to finish off those who got themselves in debt. everyone i know, who over bought, over spent, with visions of grander, r all on the right. all my lefty friends live modestly, so it’ll be the gop’ers in my life who will be swimming in debt, and scrambling for a hand up.
but i’m sure u all will NOT be there 4 ’em. so be it!

haha lanslither says, “lefty friends live modestly.” lol
Of course they do until someone rats them out for driving Escalades while using EBT cards and collecting general relief.
Got to live “modestly” to maintain that Section 8 house or apartment, lest the authorities investigate and find parolees there, weapons, drugs and 20 other (people) in the attic. haha lol

Not too sure about that sky…
“Peel away the onion” and I am SURE that RACISM is involved here. Yeh sure! She filed for bankruptcy, but how do we know the “other side” didn’t make her do that and wanted her out because some don’t want an african american to win Steves’ seat? After all, isn’t someone in bankruptcy just what is needed on the liberal side? Think about it!!!

Maybe since half the people in Obama’s administration violated tax laws, Jones thinks she can advance politically by filing a BK. Maybe she will never have to pay for gas or pay for her mortgage.

AV If somehow in November, Congress changes, then it is a whole new ball game. Pelosi, the mentally challenged will no longer be speaker.
Darrell Issa from California has promised that he will post haste start up the “investigation” machine and leave no stone un-turned.
Am hoping to see many many in hand-cuffs, assuming oopsbummer does not declare martial law first.

NOT-in-the-know says...
Perhaps when she loaned her campaign money—she thought it would get paid back. When it didn’t happened—she was forced to declare BK.
it’s not like this doesn’t happen all the time. In these hard times, you count on money that used to be there to continue. By the time you realize that it won’t—it’s too late. That’s why they have BK laws.
It’s too bad for Linda, she is a nice lady.

This is just great isn’t it ? did she ride in the parade with the democratic group ? I guess she didn’t plan on getting caught. I had no plans on voting for her anyway.Sh will just call on superbummer to rescue her.

bankruptcy isn’t something some one “gets caught” at. since the person filing is the person it effects.

Maybe she & her husband, along with 4 Million others fell for this BS:
“Over 75 percent of white Americans own their home, and less than 50 percent of Hispanos and African Americans don’t own their home. And that’s a gap, that’s a homeownership gap. And we’ve got to do something about it.”
—-George W. Bush—Cleveland, Ohio, July 1, 2002"
• "[W]e’re creating… an ownership society in this country, where more Americans than ever will be able to open up their door where they live and say, welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property.

“I’m asking Congress to pass my Zero Down Payment Initiative. We should remove the 3 percent down payment rule for first time home buyers with FHA-insured mortgages.
