Campaign Hit mailer crop
I just check my mail and am looking at the current crop of “hit mailers”, not that big a crop unfortunately.
About the best, “We have an Infestation”, which looks like it is a Steve Fox production, at least it was paid for by Citizens for Responsible Government Supporting Jessie Smith, Warren Wilson and of course Steve Fox.
I’ve not a big supporter of Bettencourt or Lackey, actually they seem pretty good on the council but really nothing to get excited by one way or the other. But really, Rats, Oh really Steve Fox?
What’s your take?

i think that was the one the avp said went out about a month ago. rumor has it that it was sent by a bettencourt supporter, to look like fox sent it.
something along that line was stated in the avpress, but don’t have the copy.
i believe it was traced to NV.

Same font in places, same mailing company, Fox’s name is on it with others. Tells me it was sent out by Fox, but I might be wrong.
I also don’t think Bettencourt or Lackey are that ego driven to do a reverse smear to win a city council race, not smells like Fox droppings.

Dede was not selected by means of a primary, she was selected by a very liberal element in the Republican party chairs. Dede is a NY Times Republican by the way, not a real one.
Let’s see what happens when a Sara Palin backed candidate runs in a real primary in anywhere other than Jesus land….my take they will loose.

larry, warren wilson and fox showed what buffoons they are. even though i don’t agree with jesse smith, he at least had more intellect than those two.

Looking over my collection of mailers, some are more “hit” than others. I suppose the “Wanted” poster against Gordon Dexter for PWD board, put out by the committee to elect Dave Gomez, might seem the most overt, but it’s hard to top the “Rats” attacks against Tom Lackey and Laura Bettencourt for Palmdale CC by Citizens for Responsible Government (supporting Jesse Smith, Steve Fox, Brian Wilson and Warren Wilson (not related).
One of the most admirable mailers came from Taxpayers for Tom Lackey, a completely positive statement of the candidate’s attributes and experience without an attack on anyone.
Likewise, the mailer sent out by the AV Teachers Assn. took the high road on behalf of Jim Lott and Kathy Carothers for AVUHSD, clearly stating goals as well as experience and endorsements.
In fact, I’m pleased to report that the vast majority of mailers we’ve received, whether for Dexter & Cordova, Bettencourt, Fox or the Antelope Valley “School Safety Team”, have been affirmative on behalf of the candidates without going negative on their opponent(s).
But there is one mailer that needs to be exposed, a unattributed attack on Gordon Dexter. It’s an orange half-sheer of plain paper with a crude Halloween cartoon portraying Dexter as some sort of witch or gargoyle drawing water out of a toilet. The mailer claims Dexter “Helps Deliver TOILET TO TAP Drinking Water To It’s (MWD) Customers!”

Toilet to tap done crudely, sounds like the Union types are getting busy with the races.
I’m all in favor of the “Blue Pipe” proposal that ’Hof made a while back to recycle water for things like landscape, water from the toilet to my tap, no so much.

I thought this “toilet-to-tap” nonsense had been put to rest the last time around. It’s a phony issue.

Sure sure…but, someone still thinks it’s a real issue that can stir up the likes of the Trailer Trash like BillyWifeBuyer.

i was extremely disappointed in fox for putting out that ad and that witch ad of course doesn’t tell you who sent it, but i’m sure gomez had something to do with it. gomez ads keep coming out that he did vote no on the water increase, but he doesn’t add that the first vote (i think in april?) he voted for it. figueroa is the only one who deserves to keep his seat.

Well Fox getting elected would have one good effect, ’Da Mayor Leadbelly will have someone on the council that is a bigger ham than him. For purely entertainment value the Fox/Leadbelly show would make the Palmdale CC meetings almost but not quite must watch comedy.

Kudos’s are also in order for Wilson’s positive advertisement for his campaign. Very positive about Wilson without attacking anyone. I’m not voting for him, but his advertisement was great.

I’m glad the Democrats got Steve Fox now. He’s an idiot. What a dumb hit-mailer.

and in today’s paper, the proof that the hit mailer was traced back to Steve Fox’s campaign was in an article-seems like he learned from the best in lancaster but not that those don’t really work

So a vote for Fox for pure entertainment value would be? Bad or Good?
Watching Fox and ‘Da Mayor step all over each other would be priceless, but I’m not going to vote for Fox just for that.

I am really disgusted with the rat mailer! He is a Rotarian and has repeated the 4 way test. #1. Is it the Truth? If it is a hit mailer, then it was not Beneficial to all concerned, Certainly did not build GoodWill and better Friendships, damn sure wasn’t fair!!!! Again, I am disgusted!

But did Fox give a high sign, or the secret handshake, that’s what I want to know.

Yes, he extended his hand in comaraderie to other Rotarians. No secret handshake, no secret words. Garuanteed, if he were in a Lodge this kind of behavior would be investigated.
I find it interesting that fellow Rotarians have been silent on this.
