And Speaking of Hate Crimes…
A story from the San Diego area that’s gotten very little attention locally, a 32-year-old Iraqi woman who was found severely beaten next to a threatening note saying “go back to your country, you terrorist” died on Saturday (3-24).
Shaima Alawadi’s 17-year-old daughter found her unconscious in a pool of blood Wednesday morning in the dining room of their house in El Cajon, northeast of San Diego. Her mother had been repeatedly beaten on the head with a tire iron, the note found beside her.
They had received a similar note earlier this month but the family did not report it to authorities. The attack apparently occurred while Alawadi’s husband took their younger children to school. The family has lived in the U.S. since the mid-1990’s but had lived in the house in San Diego County for only a few weeks, after moving from Michigan.
El Cajon is home to some 40,000 Iraqi immigrants, the second largest such community in the U.S. after Detroit. Alawadi’s husband had previously worked in San Diego as private contractors for the U.S. Army, serving as a cultural adviser to train soldiers who were going to be deployed to the Middle East.

I understand that she was a Christian. There’s a lot of Iraqi Christians. Had Bush (Uh, I mean the heartless Dick Cheney—oh, wait—he got one today. Never mind.) and Rummy Rummsfeld not have bombed the shit out of Iraq; under Sadam, you had a sizable Christian population.

Yes. her murder will be solved and all the resources the law enforcement agencies have will be used to solve it. While tragic its just another example of america turning into a lawless nation. Think releasing 40,000 prisoners might have had something to do with it? Thank your local liberal democrat whose priorities are in the wrong direction.

Ray the odds of you or a family member being a victim of crime where you live goes up accordingly to how long you live in a area where the dominant race exists. I don’t envy any of you living there in the AV whether its lancaster or palmdale. I know what happens, I saw what happened to every neighborhood we used to live in. You couldn’t walk down to the store without being armed, night or day. I know how bad it was before I left and can only imagine what its like now there.

I lived in Reseda and Van Nuys at one time and Canoga Park, Simi Valley etc etc. All of them aren’t very safe and have large hispanic populations.

I got the old timer’s disease ralph, I can’t remember crap. The irish pub was called Sullivan’s I think, they were amazed when I threw darts and I asked if I could throw stars (this was before the Bruce Lee movies made the martial arts as popular and known) and could beat everyone in the bar at darts. I’d had never played darts before, I just happen to feel like a cold beer and I was just walking though the field there on Havenhurst and Victory Blvd. came out saw the bar and figured what the hell might as well visit the local bar.

Wouldn’t take the bet but the circumstances do seem questionable. Attacked in her living room with a tire iron? Not exactly the MO of your average hate crime type.

No bet. This smacks of “honor killing”, which is practiced in the Muslim community. When the truth comes out, always does, it will be the husband or some other close relative who did the deed.
