Actually, they (undocumented workers) did pay into it, especially if they worked for a company that paid them by check, not cash, which was most often the case. This includes almost every resort in Palm Springs, Phoenix, San Diego, Miami, San Francisco and Santa Barbara, every hotel-casino in Las Vegas, Reno, Laughlin, Mesquite, Atlantic City, Tunica and Biloxi. Every major restaurant chain (Olive Garden, Outback, Chilis, Sizzler, Macaronni Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Elephant Bar, P.F. Changs, Famous Dave’s, Claim Jumper, etc.)and every fast food restaurant (Jack In the Box, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Carl’s Jr., etc), every undocumented employee of a major construction or sanitation company, every undocumented employee of a meat-packaging plant, undocumented factory workers, etc.

The only undocumented workers that did not pay into the Social Security fund were those who were paid in cash.

This is why it’s absurd not to offer amnesty and grant them a path to citizenship. The birth rate in the U.S. is flat. In order for Social Security to be around for future generations, it requires that there be a significant birth rate and accompanying workforce to pay into it. The undocumented workers who came at the peak of the economic boom were working in menial labour jobs and having babies while native-born Americans were partying and living the good life on the excesses of capitalism. If you want Social Security and Medicare to remain viable programmes, then you are going to need these immigrants to stay in the U.S., become legalised and continue to work. You can’t have it both ways. I don’t know why people are so shortsighted that they can’t see this?

Ray, This petition is a hoax and been around since 2006. The Senate never voted to award SS to illegals, it was a discussion that was tabled back in 2006. Check out Snopes.com and search for “Social Security Petition.”

Matt, there are over 40 Social security offices outside of the US and all over the world to support US workers abroad and Americans working in foreign embassys. There are three small offices in Mexico. A new large office in Mexico City is a myth.

Illegals can and do receive social security benefits, I have said many times it took me a american veteran two years to get social security disability benefits. While at the Discovery Center as a volunteer. I saw three illegal aliens get SSI benefits for being “crazy”. No, we need to deport everyone here illegally and see that every job filled by an illegal is fired and the job given to an amerian.
