    Toyota ... Forever
As the owners of two, count ‘em two, Toyotas, I don’t feel this is a betrayal of brand loyalty…

TOKYO (The Borowitz Report) – Hoping to reverse a series of public relations setbacks, Toyota today unveiled a new slogan, “Drive a Toyota. You’ll Never Stop.”

    Company spokesman Hiroshi Kyosuk…

    Incident at Eastside High School
The details are sketchy, but what one student described to me as a “riot” broke out shortly before noon today at Eastside High School in Lancaster.

I arrived at the school at 11:45 AM and found at least twenty Sheriff’s squad cars, unmarked police vehicles, two ambulances and paramedics’ fire …

    Jay Leno Debacle
On September 17, 2009, I posted the following on my friend Steve Berger’s blog:

“This week, Jay’s been up against repeats for the most part. The real test will come next week when season premieres of popular shows like “The Mentalist” start their roll-out.

    But regardless of the competition,…

    A Tale of Two Trends
From the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund:
    12-29-09

2009 was indeed a tale of two trends in U.S. law enforcement fatalities.

Fewer officers died in the line-of-duty this year (124 as of yesterday) -the lowest total deaths since 1959. However, the number of officers who were …

What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1909. One hundred years ago:

The average life expectancy was 47 years.
Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.
    The maximum speed limit in…

    Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright
    All in good fun…

The police asked Tiger’s wife how many times she hit him. “I don’t know exactly…put me down for a 5.”

What’s the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger can drive a ball 300 yards.

Tiger Woods wasn’t seriously injured in the crash, but he’s still below par.

    Climate Change: Rational Discussion
There is no question that major climactic changes were happening long before humankind walked this planet and will likely continue long after we’re gone. The question that no one can fully answer is to what extent human activity has impacted the current warming trend and what, if anything, can we…

And Now, For Something Completely Christmas...
And now, the first Christmas jokes of the year…

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

Saint Peter said, “In honor of this holy season, you must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.”

The first man fumbled through h…

The “End of the World”(as we know it)?
With today’s release of the new film “2012”, I’m reminded of a question I’ve long wondered about, why our fascination, in some cases longing, for the end of the world? What is it in the dark corners of our collective unconscious that is both fearful of and fascinated by visions of the apocalypse?…
