Denise, I want to sincerely apologize
Denise Latanzi, I want to sincerely apologize…
Denise Latanzi said I’m a turning myself into a “caricature.” A caricature is a comic exaggeration of travesty or a ridiculously inappropriate attempt at something.
BLOGAV advertises and I mean literally advertises for readers and users that say it’s “AVs Finest Online Community Where Civility Matters.”
In blogav one of the moderators (Guy) when the rumor in question was cut from this forum sought out the rumor monger to post his libel in Guy and Denise Latanzi’s “civil” discussion forum.
To mock this “civil” forum for reposting rumors I had asked Denise Latanzi on March 11th if rumors were considered civil. I had asked [March 11th, 2010, 4:24 pm
A major problem of enforcing a moral code (civility) is it is very subjective. We have a revolutionary Marxist and a leading Democratic Party leader conducting the moral grounds this forum is to ruled by.
My question has to do with rumors; is it ok to trade in rumors and be considered civil. My moral teaching says rumors are a big no no so rumor mongering would be considered not civil.
If it is ruled that rumors are AOK with this board’s leadership we will know it is ok for all to play with rumors.]
Denise Latanzi posted a reply 4 days later but did not address me asking for Moral Guidance for rumors in her civil forum.
Since one of the moderators of blogav actively sought out this rumor and Denise Latanzi had not responded about rumors being acceptable for “civil” discussion, I made a “caricature” type post and made sure everyone knew it was a rumor. Of course I made that caricature post the most vicious personal one I could knowing I was dealing with people that don’t have a clue what real civility is to purposely make a point.
Now Denise Latanzi says I’m a caricature, I have to agree. When I act like what she and her fellow blogger moderator views as “civil” I’m a “caricature.” I’m glad that lesson is sinking into her skull.
Denise, I want to sincerely apologize for making a personal example of you in drawing this “caricature.” I apologize for the pain it caused you. I felt justified in doing it because I did ask before I did it and you said you didn’t see it even though you had a post 4days later under my question.
Hopefully you will understand I very often have to jump off the lofty perch you and others put me on descend into the crap of leftist thought to make my point. Glad you got it.
Now let the leftist name-calling crap begin!

Notwithstanding Mr. Hall’s enduring ignorance of the fact that laws relative to the libeling of politicians such R. Rex Parris and public officials such as Paul Chappel are distinctly different from those which apply to private citizens who are not also public figures, I did not petition Matt to post his “Rumor: Did Parris & Chappel stuff the ballot box?” to blogav. In fact, previous to Matt having inquired as to whether or not it would be acceptable to post it to blogav, I had been completely unaware of the very existence of “Rumor: Did Parris & Chappel stuff the ballot box?.” That Randy Hall would simply invent the story that I “sought out the rumor monger” is, I think, characteristic of his questionable character as well as that of those whom he seeks favor from.
Persevere…

The phrase “public officials” should have read “public figures.”

You did post in this forum that the rumor was showcased in your forum, therefore you advertised it. I assumed you sought it out. Pardon me. Condoning the rumor in a “civil” forum makes a forum not civil. But to freedom lover like your Mr. Marsh, word definitions are restricting so you shun definitions. Again therefore you are neither complaning or explaning because your words mean nothing.

BTW, I’m glad Mr. Marsh admitted the post in his forum was “libel.”

“A caricature is a comic exaggeration of travesty or a ridiculously inappropriate attempt at something.”
A caricature is a noun, usually a pictorial image where the features are exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect. Perhaps you mean parody, satire, or spoof?
Rumors are similar to gossip-which we see a lot on all blogs. Rumors of public elected citizens, as caricatures of those persons are fair game.

Roxi, if you read it Denise came up with the word. I agreed it was an exaggeration I was attempting to show her what she condoned. Rumors not meant to inform only cast doubt and often rumor are nothing more than a person’s imagination run wild.

A comic representation of Denise and Guy’s forum was my intent at spreading a rumor about them.
I illustrate the absurd by being absurd. I congratulate Denise for getting it. I didn’t even have to tell her what it was she understood it was a “caricature” of what her and Guy’s forum is.
Guy is being absurd if he thinks there is a difference in libel about a politician or private citizen.

Yes, that is it, Randy Hall, I “admitted that the post was libelous [sic],” and, to me, “words mean nothing.”
Randy Hall: Manipulative, or simply not all that bright?
Randy Hall: "Again therefore you are neither complaning or explaning.. "

“Randy Hall: Manipulative, or simply not all that bright?”
Judgmental? Yup.
Did he respond to my charge? Nope.
In my book it doesn’t take a lot of brains to see that revolutionaries spill blood and have no idea the outcome. To them the morally superior position is sacrificing some for their “science” or morality views to be revealed later like some sort of Obama healthcare bill.
In other words Guy simply thinks of us as too stupid to understand we need his morals or our world is doomed. Sounds like an evangelical Christian doesn’t it?
So in my book Guy says no morals but mine and all morals are bad. A “stipend” isn’t “charity.” Guy has no compass to steer from so he hopes for change. That sounds like Obama too.
If is looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and says it’s a Marxist, I’d believe that he thought that he was a duck.
If you burn your dictionary and understand Guy is serious all that matters is you begin to understand his goal. His goal, total confusion so you don’t know good from bad, and you start to doubt yourself and accept his “guidance.”

RH:“Guy is being absurd if he thinks there is a difference in libel about a politician or private citizen.”
There is a difference. A politician, movie star or public spokesman: Gov’t or private is fair game for caricature, rumor and gossip. The lies we see thrown back & forth by politicians and talking heads in the media is a good example.
Private citizens can sue, as they have not thrown themselves into the public arena for criticism. About all movie stars have left to sue with is ‘stalking’.

So roxi, the difference is a person can be compensated if damage is done?
If damage is done to a “public” official what is the difference in damage?
Like I said libel is libel. It is meant to harm a living, breathing, person.

A private person who has not chosen to be a public person as a rep. for the people can sue for defamation of character if slurs are made public.
Yes, libel is libel. And lies, slurs and rumors are hurtful to both private & public people. But the public official chooses to represent the people, and this is part of being a public person-you open yourself up to ‘the public’s opinions’ – pro & con.

Sad isn’t it? You run for office and you face lies and people attempting to make lies up about you.
Glad we agree roxi. Libel is libel. Next time we trade in rumors know it is libel. A crime if it wasn’t a politician. To trade in libel makes one a criminal that is immune from punishment. Pretty pathetic when you think about it.

Yeah, then there’s rumors & gossip. Fine line between those 2 also.
“Rumor has it”…has taken on a whole new meaning….

I totally agree. Civil people don’t trade in rumors or condone them.

Gossip is at the top of the list in most of our media these days; advocating half-truths for people who have no life, or prefer to pry into others instead of improving on their own. The mantra for some is ‘judge all yet do not judge me.’
Rumors today are held as truth, until proven otherwise – and then just ignored anyway. Re-writing history has become a contact sport!

Interesting you brought that up roxi. I like Rush Limbaugh and many would say he is trading in rumors and rewriting history. But Rush’s mainstay is using audio or transcripts of what the perp said to make his point. Rush has a record of accuracy that is uncanny. He also predicts the next move of his targets of lampoon with such stunning clarity they scream before he even turns his gaze upon them.
Give him 6 weeks and see if you can stand him. He’s on your side, where so many want you to die in unsafe cars as mandated by government CAFÉ standards.
