Uncivilized Tactics at UC Irvine

I was a Dem, and a Union supporter when I was in college. I never went to a protest. Even in Highschool, my friends were walking a protest on the Valley Steam plant in Sun Valley. Yes, the one you can see from the 5.
After my union sold us out, I started changing my political views.

(i’ve taken numerous courses in my old age.) and i went to something like 10 protest before by the time i was 22.
you can go to a teaparty now. they had a “die in” at all the reps office’s in the capital just a few months ago.
maybe be a guest of joe wilson on the
floor next time the prez speaks.

What some would describe as “uncivilized tactics” others would describe as peaceful protest. I’m guessing Mr. Hall wouldn’t have the same derogatory opinion of someone who interrupted the President of the United States during a speech (think Joe Wilson). Or the tea party types that carried loaded weapons and held up signs at presidential appearances.
It’s the old double standard- If you’re protesting and I agree with you, its ok. But if you’re protesting and I disagree with you, I guess in this particular case we’re supposed to believe you’re a terrorist.
It’s that right to protest that actually sets this country aside as “Free” in this world. Thank God for rude protestors, they also gave us the Boston Tea Party.

Cagy Wolf says...
Well Denise Joe Wilson did the right thing by speaking up and pointing out what a liar Obama is and has been. His only Chicago. The reason for the tea parties is the assault on our rights(1st and 2nd amendments) and more of the same (both parties) give to the rich, while ignoring the common worker of america.

Yes,Randy you are right. If we enforced our immigration laws like we used to 911 wouldn’t have happened.Illegal aliens have been killing americans and committing crimes against americans for over 40 yrs. Its america’s dirty secret the liberal media ignores. My my the “poor illegals” have it so rough taking our jobs and starting businesses while paying no taxes on the income, while their wifes collect welfare and their families get free healthcare and education that we taxpayers foot the bill for.Ole Rex said e would do something about the illegals, but then his business buddies who hire them wouldn’t support him.

If you look at the footage closely you see who’s civil and who isn’t and it’s the racist Muslims folks attacking an invited guest. The Whites in the crowd were decend, civil and respectful all the way through. Maybe this is why many Americans are not in favor of the Muslim takeover of this lovely country.
( send private message )
Cagy Wolf says...
ragman is not just the muslims we have all kinds of immigrants that come here undermining not only our way of life, but taking our jobs and getting benefits. Face it america has become a nation of special interests groups for immigrants legal and illegal. We need to stop all foreign aid. Fuck Haiti, notice the govt.cares more about the homeless in Haiti then the homeless needy in america.
( send private message )
Cagy Wolf says...
But those students were right Isreal has been violating the middle east by their continued occupation and terrorist tactics against the muslims. The middle east doesn’t hate america for its freedom but our support of the jews. Things are going to worse people if we don’t elect people like Ron Paul who wants to get us back on tract the founding fathers got us on by fighting foreign interests and oppression.

Business is good, I’m making payroll and putting money in the bank.
Denise makes the point it is ok to shout out in a peacful way so I assume she thinks Joe Wilson was right to yell out at Obama and he should not have had to apologize.
Another thing, if Denise had watched the video she would have seen the moderator begging for quiet and respect saying that any questions will be answered later.
A protest could have been respectful but I don’t think that type of moral viewpoint is a leftist trait. In other words leftys like those haters at UC Irvine simply can’t help themselves.
Guy’s point is that they are reacting to wrongs and its ok with him. Hitler was reacting to wrongs he felt the Jews caused so I assume the mass boodshed and killing of Jews was AOK with him too.
Of course with Guy words have no meaning so expect an emotional boradside for that last sentance.

Randy its the liberal UC program itself at wrong. You have teachers encouraging that kind of behavior. If americans did the same thing there would be pepper spray, tasers and night sticks. Sad thing is our taxes go to paying for the education the scum gets. More immigrants are in school then americans and we pay for it one of the reasons this nation is failing and falling behind other nations.Frankly I see no hope for the USA, we still elect idiots who don’t see far enough what their past and present policies are doing to america. I know I keep bringing up the illegals, but this group did far more then impact the working poor it pushed us out of the workplace and our homes neighborhoods. The lobbying and special interests is run this nation besides traitors in office and corp. america.

I can remember being in undergraduate school in 1972 — Holy Cross to be exact with Jesuits and rules — the the Black Student Union taking over the administration building protesting HC’s investments in South Africa. In fact, one of the leaders of the take over of the campus center was Clarence Thomas our current very conservative Supreme Court Justice.
When he got out into the world, he decided to change his persona, his alliance and how to get what he wanted out of life.
My point is that college is a time of experimenting, fulfilling one’s ideals, taking risks and learning more about oneself and one’s society. I don’t emotionally castigate any student who exerts their rights, pushes the envelope or challenges the system because sooner or later those same students are more often than not captured by the ambiance of what being a part of the system means.
Some will change a few things, some will grow in their experiences, some will make life long friends, some will move on to the next phase of their lives.
Most will pass the torch on to the next generation.
I have protested, been a part of a sit-in or two, screamed out GATES MUST GO with my infant sons by my side. I just haven’t rolled over entirely yet because I’m still holding on to the ideals I believe this country should support but I know we don’t.
And I’ve also taught my sons to work within the system when possible. One wants to be a lawyer. He’ll make his mark his way but at least he knows America is not the land of all that is right and other countries are not examples of all that is wrong. He’s traveled, he’s seen, his eyes are wide open.

Cagy – there are many types of colleges one can go to. My cousin went to Oral Roberts and loved it. And turned out more radical than many of her cousins. It’s what you take from you experiences that count.
My sister is a nun and has taught at Ivy League schools all her adult life from Harvard to Notre Dame. She has had tenure several times and she is radical in he way. 30 years ago she got a special dispensation from the Pope to start her own monastary. It’s called Emmaus. She has 80 acres with several houes on it for people to use as retreats. They work a lot with the terminally ill — the patient and the family plus she teaches at a prestigious college. People act out their radicalness in different ways and praise the Lord in those acts.
Sometimes it doesn’t matter what college or university you attend, it’s what is inside you, what mission God has for you, and what sacrifices you’re willing to make.

The people you mention Randy pushed the envelope on a very visible scale. There are average people everyday who push the envelope at their job sites by refusing to do the unethical and the illegal and sometimes they win, sometimes they loose but the always hold on to their dignity and self respect.
Not everyone is like you Randy, so eager to sell their souls to be able to get a wift of Mayor Rex’s feet.

My sons have been taught to work within the system because I don’t want them to be shot down on the street and have drugs planted in their cars or a gun planted in their hands.
When they reach the point of believing the system does not work, they will choose how to counter the racism, cronyism, nepotism, sexism, and all the other isms your friends and you enjoy manipulating. You see Randy, intellectually you can’t touch my sons so they are aware of white boys like you who would attempt to hurt or crush them just because you envy their talents and skills.

See how stupid you are and insulting you are concerning not just the poor Randy, but America’s struggling middle class. They push the envelope everyday when they attempt to honestly feed their families, build their family core, teach their family values, and teach them not to emulate the actions of people like Mayor Parris no matter how much money he likes to throw around just to make himself FEEL more important.
If I didn’t know how paranoid he is and other issues associated with him, maybe I too would fall for that false bravado. But Mayor Parris is all illusion. That’s why he likes to investigate people, threaten some of us, and use his clout to harm us. A man of strength and moral fortitude would not have to play such games. But paranoid men do.

I didn’t know the Human Relations Task Force or any other agency investigating hate has designed the terms “white boys” racial hate speech. You’ll have to point that ordinance out to me.
In addition, whether you like it or not, there are many prominent research studies that use the terms “white males”, “white boys”. I think you should go back and look at the context Randy.
A word in and itself isn’t hate. I know you and others like to play that game so play on. I also use the term if it’s relevant “black boys”, “black males”, etc. Is that hate speech to.

Randy, I’m still offended that you killed a fetus for convenience and preach and rail against abortion now. From my standpoint, using the rhetoric of the Christian right you have blood on your hands.
So you see like through your lenses and I see life through mine. I will use the term “white boy”, “black boy” whenever I wish. So show me the hate crime and racist mentality of how I used those words.
Just to mention race makes your skin crawl. That’s because you have issues Randy, serious issues about your own life and the things you do.
If Rex loses and an agency comes in and investigates Lancaster’s business dealings, and you loose those variances, you’ll be whining about how you have to get the act of kissing up to Mayor Rex’s group off your chest.
You didn’t mean to do it.
It’s bothered you for years.

neighbor went to a C.O.P.S town hall in my ghetto hood last night.
said it was a campaign show for rex.
guess he sent mann and bozigan to tell the people how the current city govt is all about supporting the local cops.
also said it looked real white, although whites make up about 30% of the people here! not EVERYONE got a personal invite? hhmmmmm
said rex is moving christian churches into neighborhoods, into the houses the city has bought. someone asked mark about that, and mark tried to say it was last weeks news.
when it was pointed out, that if lil rex was only dealing with 4 christian churchs in hoods, the city was obviously still pushing a christian agenda!
interesting. i’ll try to get some more info!"
See Randy, I had to borrow something from another blog to show you how white is a description. Only you get offended supposidly to try the none thinkers on this site get all fired up.
Rex is working black ministers! I said Black ministers. Shameful. Hearns will probably endorse the Slate of Hate and that’s pathetic.
Here we have a very talented, articulated and gifted black young male running for a city council seat who has put his life on the line for his country and will do so again. He’s defended the freedoms of this nation and he’s running against a bird watcher, someone who likes to guard doors and who is a pawn for Mayor Rex.
There is no comparison between Johnathon Ervin and Ron Smith yet Hearns will endorse Ron Smith because he’s probably been told to. Like you Randy, Hearns does what Mayor Rex tells him to do.
That’s what is so sad about this community. A gifted Air Force man against a bird watcher and developer of hit mailers — a man who lied to the voters about doing hit mailers until he was asked the question under oath and Mayor Parris never censored him or anything. Ron Smith, Mayor Rex’s pawn vs a Johnathan Ervin who stood up for the people after researching out lies and misinformation in the EIRs.
No one can explain the rationale nature of why wnyone would vote for someone who lied to the people (Ron Smith), boldly sitting there and then had to go, under penalty of perjury and tell a different story.
If Mayor Rex is honorable, why didn’t he at least sanction Rod, apologize to the citizens for such a lie or censor Rod. Because a man who does the same thing probably can’t find fault with his own clone.

Sorry Randy, but comparing peaceful protesters to terrorists simply because they are Muslim is just plain.. well, wrong.
We live in a nation built and changed by protest, and yes, sometimes a little unrest. As a people, it should be considered an asset when we don’t sit idly by and just let things happen.
I don’t agree with the “Tea Party types”, but I completely support and even admire the fact that they aren’t sitting still.
By showing up to protest, those kids at UCI (my own Alma Mater), are in fact expressing how AMERICAN they are. They would not be allowed to do that in most countries, or even in Israel.
I also listened to the comments thrown at those protesters, the people who were calling them terrorists, and those people were just as “uncivilized”, but they were also bigoted.
I can only hope that I have raised my own children to believe that when they see something wrong, they stand up and try to change it. I hope their moral compass always points them toward action, even if I might disagree with them.
That should not be “liberal” thinking, and in fact its not, as the Tea Party movement proves. In fact, if it had been Tea Party folks their protesting against health care reform, my guess is you would have no problem with it. Your problem seems to stem from the fact that they were American students that looked like Muslim’s.

Were you a college student whose homeland was suffering under a decades-long, illegal and extremely brutal military occupation in which your compatriots were being treated like the “animals” that marino suggests Palestinians to be, then you too would likely lash out against the political representatives of that occupying military who – you would know – wouldn’t give a damn about you nor about any questions that you might ask of them.
You see, despite its public posturing, never has the Zionist-dominated Israeli government been interested in negotiating with the Palestinians. The Israeli government’s true policy is one of genocide – of complete and total extermination of the Palestinian people, and these student’s anger is a direct reflection of their knowing this to be the case. It is only unfortunate that the average American remains clueless to this stark reality.

Randy,
I imagine that the appearance of an Israeli official at a public university with a large Palestinian immigrant student population was probably the only chance that the students felt that they would have to vent their frustrations about the situation in the Middle East. So they did. At least they didn’t murder him, though, the way the reproductive doctor was murdered in Kansas. That’s a good thing!

MK, maybe those kids at the university had a chance to learn, and instead wanted to teach. Seems if they were of the teaching profession they would have already known they would be arrested for disrupting a seminar. Now I guess those “students” will learn first hand civility in their new country. We know in their county killing and suicide is the norm. Hopefully they will learn something different in this country. Well at least I pray they do.

Tbe not-so clever “fewenuff” quoted me as having written “Were you a college student…” and then quickly inserted another of my words “suffering” in the following manner: “‘Were you a college student…’ Suffering? Suffering?” He or she went to write “Please. Most of the people that come over here for schooling are far from suffering.”
Yes, that is it, fewenuff, make it appear as though I had stated “Were you a suffering college student…” when in fact I clearly wrote “Were you a college student whose homeland was suffering a decades-long, illegal and extremly brutal military occupation…”
Yes, the majority of the Palestinians who are able to attend school abroad do not come from either the Gaza Strip or the West Bank (the occupied areas of Palestine, and absolutely nothing thatbI wrote indicated otherwise. In fact, I quite purposefully employed the word “compatriots” rather than the phrase “loved ones” so as not to suggest that a majority of said students were native to the occupied areas of Palestine (though some surely are). It is also true that not all of the students who voiced their disappproval of the Israeli official were Palestinian. There exists a very good possibility that these visiting students were a mixture of not only Palestinians but also Syrians, Jordanians, Lebanese, etc. Perhaps a few of them were even Israelis, for a very vibrant anti-occupation movement does indeed exist within Israel and amongst Israelis who understand that their Zionist-dominated government is not serving the interests of the majority of Israelis.
So perhaps the next time, fewenuff.

Most of us knew what you were attempting to say, and what I was attempting to say. To clarify. Effectively NONE of the students here for college regardless of country of origin are suffering (here or at home). Attempts to spin a new meaning posthumously to your post to include the unspecific non-suffering (here or at home) world at large with the specific non-suffering (her or at home) student retches are interesting.
The social contracts for acceptable behavior that we have are not situational, ever, period, the same for all. So either human up, and call a spade a spade regardless of source, alliance, or allegiance, or don’t and condemn yourself to be shouted down by crickets.

I think that Randy is looking for Sherry Marquez level notoriety now, as he keeps insinuating those kids were terrorists simply because they look Arab.
The kids were student protesters, just like the student protesters at many other college campuses except they aren’t white. They were also very peaceful, unlike white students have been at UCLA and other campuses across the country when engaging in protest.

Except they aren’t white? They aren’t black either, or brown. Do non-whites ever protest non-peacefully on campuses? Or have you only seen whites do it?
One thing most know by now. It’s definately politically correct to hammer on whites in America.

Kid’s on college campuses protest, they are smart kids exercising their rights under the constitution. Like what they say or dislike it, love how they say it or hate it, agree with the tactics they used or not, these kids are actually showing how AMERICAN they are by protesting peacefully.

Animals come in all colors. You have a speaker and an audience. Speaker is there to speak, audience is there to listen. In this case the audience was allowed to ask questions after the speaker had spoken. But instead they went against house rules and got kicked out.
Nobody here said it was only muslims that act like animals. But most obvious and most definate, terrorists in the name of Islam represent most of the world’s terrorists.

Crazy fundamentalists are crazy fundamentalists, no matter the religion or what makes them nuts. Take the guy who flew his cessna into the building yesterday, a crazy nutjob? yes. A terrorist? well, he managed to terrorize those people, thats for sure.
The one thing I know for sure is that terrorists and crazies come in all shapes, ethnic backgrounds, and religions. The IRA, David Koresh, Timothy McVeigh and friends, Eric Rudolph and the people who helped him, the Khamer Rouge, FPMR (Chilean group), ELM, AUC, and FARC in Columbia, Ku Klux Klan, and that is just a handful of them. There are terrorist groups in Greece, Japan, all over South America, the Philippines, Rwanda and all over Africa (most of whom are not Muslim), Sri Lanka, and yes, we even have our own home grown groups.
Terrorism is a tactic that does not belong to one ethnic group or one religion, it does not have one face. The vast majority of Muslim’s are not terrorists, just like the vast majority of Irish people did not belong to the IRA when the IRA was running around killing people and blowing things up.
So no, while the terrorist actions in South and Central america may not have much effect on our daily lives, I assure you there is plenty of terrorism happening down there, and the perpetrators of that mess are not Muslim’s.
Those students at UCI were not terrorists, they were PROTESTERS, just like the white students at Berkeley, except they weren’t throwing rocks and bottles at the police, which is a bit more serious than just being rude.

In, I believe, 1985, Mother Jones magazine published a cover photo of the then Joint Chiefs of Staff with a caption which read “America’s Leading Terrorists.” And to actually “bother” oneself with a reading of the Congressional Record, rather than to rely upon the sanatized and very much incomplete history of US military interventions presented by establishment “history” teachers and the capitalist media, is to understand that the religion known as Capital remains the true and really only form of crazy fundamentalism
; that nearly all other terrorists and crazies arise therefrom.

lancaster the sad thing about prisons is we don’t keep in the dangerous animals in them for long enough.Witness the few months ago, where the parolee killed 4 cops. And Huckabee letting out a rapist murderer.I could go and on, but what is truly scary is we have citizens from Mexico who are criminals who come here not to work, but to rob, rape and murder amercans. In Calif. nothing is done to deport them, while here 187g s in effect and the scum are deported after serving their time. But you all miss as usual the point,we need to reduce immigration whether legal or illegal. Those of you that haven’t gone on anti/amnesty/immigration marches haven’t seen the thousands of terrorists from mexico attempting to stop the peaceful constitutional rights of americans. This is our country not theirs, I as a american should feel safe walking down the street.

I didn’t say those rude students were terrorists. But now that you bring it up they used tactics similar to the terrorists we have come to despise.
Doesn’t that make them terrorist-like?
Of course it does and it tells us why some have to say those students even though they were using terrorist like tactics and not real terrorists.
To become a terrorist all they would have to do is bring a gun or bomb to the next meeting and they would be full-fledged terrorists.

Randy CJ we need to stop atacking each other and address the problem. We are being taken over by foreign interests and immigrants, legal and illegal. Americans (poor working class) are affected the most, but will be affected or already affected by illegal aliens. We all pay higher taxes to provide free services to them. Band together and stop fighting among ourselves I ask this of you who are still in contact with reality. DBW and those too crazy to the harm done by their racism. But then again DBW is paid to cause discord. its what she does and only thing she is good for.And thanks to all who have supported me by sending me the info on DBW.

How exactly do we address the problem if we don’t confront one of our biggest problems?
Our biggest problem is we can’t seem to agree on word definitions.
CG, we have always disagreed on the immigrant “problem.” I don’t see our “problem” in this country as one of people, but one of entitlement. We have developed a culture that feels entitled to what others earn.
To blame an immigrant for our financial problems is ignoring the basic issue, and that issue is our government should not be in the making fair business.
Locally we are having a city confrontation with our self-appointed PC Police. I see that as a positive first step in removing this fairness crap.

Randy you own a business, you didn’t have to look for a job where all the jobs are taken by illegal aliens. The immigrant problem whether legal or illegal is undermining american values, culture, safety, and is costing us billions to provide welfare, free education-health care etc etc. This is why calif. is broke and instead of passing laws and enforcing the immigration laws more americans are affected and hurt by this ignoring the situation. Now if I had just an opinion and didn’t research this by yrs. of experience and by looking at the problem without racism and prejudice. I’d agree with you. But the facts speak for themselves. America is failing in many ways and the worse is by not protecting american jobs and lives. Check out victimsofilleglaliens.com

CJ, this is why I call you a lib. There is no logical way you can equate the city examining its funding of AV Human relations as a terrorist-like tactic.
A proper way of pointing out how I support terrorist-like tactics would be to quote what I said that lead you to that decision.
If it is my support of increasing security by having eye-in-the-sky, that has nothing to do with a Constitutional issue.
