Seven things we can be thankful for
Seven things we can be thankful for
As we gather with family and friends to celebrate our blessings at Thanksgiving, we should remember how fortunate we Americans are to
live in a free and just nation.
America was founded upon sound conservative principles grounded firmly
in human nature and not in radical idealism. And today, we see that
these principles, though under attack from the Left, are still very
much alive. As Heritage Foundation scholar Matthew Spalding explained
in 2003, Thanksgiving maintains the tradition of the American Founding
and affirms that “while we are committed to upholding religious
liberty, we remain one nation under God.”
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=JGAouY2LU9_sGv_PunENug..
So, despite these tough times, conservatives and Americans have much
to be thankful for:
1. The United States Constitution. The single most important and
timeless document of our nation’s Founding, the U.S.
Constitution lays the framework for a government that protects
the natural and unalienable rights of every American. The
Constitution, the key to our greatness and the bulwark of our
liberties, offers an antidote to the Left’s radicalism. That’s
why The Heritage Foundation has made it a priority to educate
the American people about this fundamental document.

2. America’s Armed Forces. The brave men and women of the armed
forces have dedicated their lives to preserve and protect our
liberties and defend the principles that inspired our
Constitution. As President Harry S. Truman told Congress in
1945:
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=1Mo_w_U3lRM7z2cC5Z379Q..
“Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service
of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our
undying gratitude. America will never forget their
sacrifices.”
3. A Conservative America. Recent Gallup polls find that an
overwhelming majority of Americans — 40 percent — identify
themselves as conservative, as opposed to liberal or moderate.
This simply reinforces what Heritage Vice President Mike Franc
reported after the 2008 elections: conservatives remain a
force to be reckoned with. After all, Barack Obama campaigned
last year on promises of lower taxes, spending cuts and a
stronger national security because he knows what principles
appeal to the American people.

http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=ocCF5qHKvqobaty9bn-8lg..
4. Growing Conservative Momentum. This year, the Left’s
big-government plans — and there have been many — have
sparked a big reaction from conservatives around the country.
From the April tea parties to the August town hall meetings to
the September protests in Washington, concerned Americans have
made it clear to politicians that they remain devoted to our
founding principles even if their representatives have
abandoned them.
5. The Sputtering Liberal Agenda. In part because of the firm
conservative response, the liberal agenda is wobbling
somewhat. While they continue to pose a grave threat to the
nation, radical ideas like socialized medicine, new taxes on
energy and handouts to Big Labor have been slowed or stalled
in Washington. The Left has so far accomplished relatively
little, but lest we grow overconfident we should remember that
they still hold the levers of power.
6. Conservative Victories. The landslide victories of
gubernatorial candidates Bob McDonnell in Virginia and Chris
Christie in New Jersey — both states that the Left had
counted on to remain in their camp — demonstrate a growing
public demand for conservative solutions. Election Day saw
other conservative successes as well, including a referendum
protecting traditional marriage in Maine.
7. A New Heritage Milestone. More and more Americans are turning
to The Heritage Foundation for conservative ideas and
principled solutions to the most important issues of the day.
Heritage has become the preeminent voice for conservatives in
Washington, and our membership has grown by leaps and bounds
in 2009. With over 550,000 active members, our voice is
getting through as never before. Join Heritage today!
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=KW5JkaLuBAk01xUvNjbDig..
The conservative cause shows great promise, and for this we should be
thankful.
From all of us at Heritage, have a very happy Thanksgiving.

Maybe I can agree with a few of the things you seem to be grateful for. Instead of seeking common ground to give thanks for you took it to the extreme and makde it a political agenda.
Sorry you can’t just be ‘human’ on Thanksgiving.

A harsh judgement indeed. But in the spirit of the season I’m still thankful regardless of your put down and insult.

Nicely expressed Randy ! the same things I am thankful for. I heard a great statement today on the Mike Gallagher program said by David Behmer who was the father of Todd behmer who died trying to divert the plane being crashed into the pentagon. He said, " What color is your heart " hopefully, RED,WHITE AND BLUE. Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless America.

I agree with the author’s assessment except for one thing.
“America was founded upon sound conservative principles grounded firmly
in human nature and not in radical idealism” only seems that way some 233 years later. In actuality, it was indeed “radical idealism” that brought Europeans here in the first place. The ideals of worshipping in the manner an individual chose as opposed to following the tenets of a monarch’s chosen faith; that the power to rule lay in the hands of the people; the rights of each individual were every bit as important as those of the masses were all considered unusually radical at the time.
What we’ve been doing in the years since is constantly testing the boundaries of those ideals. Which is precisely what freedom is for.

Randy, not a put down or insult. Simply a statement of fact for me. I do not subscribe to your political ideology so I cannot be thankful for all the things you list. They are not of my world, natural or spiritual.
I am so appreciative this Thanksgiving day for:
Family, oh my God yes. Friends, oh my God yes.
But insteand of conservative vs. whatever, I would give thanks for freedom of speech and a free flying flag that has waived nonstop all my life
ability to be oneself in a country where differences are accepted and being a productive human being is praised
ability to pray to the Supreme Being of our choice and to worship without having to do it in hiding or under the penalty of death
freedom not to feel owned or so controlled by our government such as in other countries
abilit to have childre and not be dictated to by the state in regard to the privacy of our marital uninons — in terms of rationing the number of children we can have or placing a priority of male over female births
But bleseed most of all to be able to have sites like these where freedom of expression is not censored
Blessed that we have the right to vote without worries about fixing elections or our candidates being assassinated.
Just human issues that make America the greatest country on the face of the earth.

My soon to be 6th Grandchild due in June telling “Mom To Be” that he or she is anxious to visit
All my family together and happy
My friends get more amazing to me every day
My health intact
The greatest country on Earth keeping me proud every day that I am one of her children…
I am truly blessed
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone… Have an amazing day….

Cybertariat says...
“America was founded upon solid, conservative principles…” Indeed it was!
Chief amonst those solid, conservative principles is something known as genocide.
Again, much like so-called reservations, Thanksgiving is emblematic of this land’s indigenous peoples havind adhered to woefully inadequate immigration policies.
*
“Cagy” Wolf: “And while we’re at it, Redflag[/Cybertariat], how about going to Cuba? I think you would fit in well there [sic].”
Once again, you nearly-retarded, knuckle-dragging Neanderthal, please list that portion of the United States Constitution that designates an official economic system – that which stipulates that capitalism must remain this society’s economic order in perpetuity?
Thank you, “Cagy.”
Oh and, “Cagy,” while formulating your response, won’t you please enlist the assistance of one of the librarians? Your writing really is quite dreadful.
Now, of course, you are not one of those “stupid, uneducated, illegal aliens,” are you, “Cagy”? I mean, you are a legal resident of this country, right, “Cagy”?
With that said, and although Cuba is by no means a socialist society (albeit quite socially progressive), I hope to visit that island nation sometime during 2011. But I will continue to make the landmass currently known as Southern California – land of my birth – my home until such time that I draw my final breath. So I suppose that you will simply have to deal with that, you stupid, uneducated, unimaginative, hateful, bitter, little man!
*
“Cagy” Wolf: “I guess, after you have served in the military, you understand more about the rights we have – rights that so many soldiers gave their lives for so that we could have freedom [sic].”
From that I am left wondering; which is more compelling, “Cagy’s” illiteracy or his sociopolitical naïveté?

Randy Hall says...
“Gratitude isn’t an emotion most of us cultivate. Even on Thanksgiving, we are more likely to concentrate on the turkey or the television than on giving thanks. But perhaps we would think differently about thankfulness if we realized its extraordinary power to improve our lives.
I mean something more than simply the civilizing benefits of good manners. Of course it is admirable to show gratitude. Nothing rankles more than showing kindness or generosity to someone who doesn’t appreciate it.; that is why parents constantly coax their young children to say “please” and “thank you.” But the value in giving thanks goes far beyond mere politeness. Gratitude is nothing less than the key to happiness.
For this penetrating insight into gratefulness, I am grateful to Dennis Prager, author of the shrewd and perceptive Happiness is a Serious Problem.
“There is a ‘secret to happiness,’ " Prager writes, “and it is gratitude. All happy people are grateful, and ungrateful people cannot be happy. We tend to think that it is being unhappy that leads people to complain, but it is truer to say that it is complaining that leads to people becoming unhappy. Become grateful and you will become a much happier person.”
It is a keen observation, and it helps explain why the Judeo-Christian tradition places such emphasis on thanking G-d. The liturgies are filled with expressions of gratitude. And rightly so, King David wrote in the 92d Psalm: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord.” Why? Because G-d needs our gratitude? No. Because we need it.
Learning to be thankful, whether to G-d or to other people, is the best vaccination against taking good fortune for granted. And the less you take for granted, the more pleasure and joy life will bring you."

No Spin, I really am so sick of you. I am not radical. I am rather moderate. You provide nothing to support anything of what you believe except these ridiculous statistics. Stop tying to play with me. I am not the child you are.

Ray, she said it made her sick. If something makes you sick, maybe you should think about that.
I understand the two of you together must commiserate a lot of hate and being “sick” about things. Maybe a positive outlook and more happiness in your lives may help your wife. Ray, look at me, I’m serious; a positive outlook helps the healing process. I’d rather you two live many more decades together.
They were her words about being sick, not mine. Words mean things; they also can impact your lives. Look at my posts today in this thread, I’ve seen many positive things said today and please consider this in the best intentions for your wife’s well-being.

Randy Hall says...
“Randy, everyone has told me about the positive attitude I have.” If this is true why say something like this: “No Spin, I really am so sick of you.” Everyone in here knows you have faced the big C. We worry about your health. When I see something that makes you sick and you say it in writing in a blog, I worry for you. I know you don’t want any of us to censor our opinions so you can use your illness as a weapon to shut us up. I then worry you see things or read things that make you sick. I don’t want you to be sick. I want you healthy. If you didn’t tell us you faced a life threatening illness I don’t think I’d care if some words made you sick. But in the fragile condition you are in, I don’t want any guilt for having my opinion push you over the edge.

NS, evidence will not change a person’s opinion if they have a strong enough faith. So to sway Jeanne and her attack dot Ray, you will have to appeal to their faith. Their faith not in their fellow man but their faith in government programs run by men and women. Those programs are made for one thing and one thing only and that is to grow and expand. Making people miserable is the best way to make them ask for more government help. So we must assume the rising poverty rate, family breakups, lousy schooling are by design to get the people to ask for more failing programs with health care being the latest stupidy.

Jeanne: “I am sorry, but there is nothing that is free or Just about the nation the conservatives want. You [conservatives] want to dominate. You have decided how everyone should think. You are about as far as you can be from individual rights.” —excerpted from this thread’s twenty-fifth comment post.
Yes, given that the modern-day and so-called conservative political movement is a movement fixed in Christian patriarchy (should such a phrase not be redundant), its predominantly male devotees do seem to wish for undue influence over the personal lives of others, and to deny individual rights save for when such rights are illogically applied to the contrived “right” of an individual to engage in the economic exploitation of other human beings.
In my opinion, the most telling aspect of these men’s undying need to control the lives of others is their advocacy of the belief that women and men were bestowed with very different responsibilities and roles by “God” in what amounts to a supposedly equal yet very separate hierarchy in which men, be they fathers, husbands or even brothers are the unquestionable leaders of their households. Women within this construct – this completely artificial construct – are, of course, but second-class human beings whose only calling in life is to be passive, stay-at-home wives, willing to bear several children, and to teach other women to be “good Christian” women who unquestionably obey their husbands. Moreover, that sort of control also goes a long way toward Jeanne’s point that these men “have decided how everyone should think” simply because the aforementioned subjugation of women’s lives cannot possibly help but to also control their very thoughts.
Another striking aspect of this Christian-based “conservative” movement is just how viciously its members vilify both feminism and feminists such as Jeanne; relentlessly attacking those whom they disagree with – due their obvious insecurities. In fact, these men as well as many women may well be defined by way of their vicious opposiition to feminism – viewing it as a slippery slope that can only lead to such things as the preservation of reproductive rights, gay rights, teen sex, divorce, etc. That, I suppose, should come as no surprise. But, interestingly enough, these “conservatives” also view feminism as something that carries with it the potential to destroy the very foundation of Christian fundamentalism. This, then, tends to intensify their need to quell, as Jeanne so aptly described, individual rights and social justice; to dominate other people and to decide “how everyone should think.”

As I read this entire blog, I thought about how Randy and NoSpin are truly ignorant and absent of any spiritualism.
Randy states a few questionable statistics, ususally from a far right wing source, and then licks his chops and salivates as if he has accomplished something and brought truth to us all.
I told people long ago that Rnady is an idiot and footstole for the Titans who financially rape and pillage this community but the Randy’s and NoSpins couldn’t care less because they’ve got their little niche. Especially Randy, fueled by the benevolence of the Titans and his variances and business from the City of Lancaster. Talk about holding Randy by the balls. He hides behind this blog because discussion of his benefactors would be too much for him to handle.
Randy is so stupid as to brag about what he has and espouse virtues that are more satanistic then Godlike. Randy is a pimp of those who have money and power and he’s proud of it. He’s a glorified grease monkey — nothing more, nothing less, who built his business by sucking at the tit of those who had something to entice him to service them. And he’s proud. So damned proud of being someone’s patsy.
Anyone who takes Randy’s rants or supossed insightful thinking is looking at selling his soul for a pieces of sliver. Time pases quickly. Let Randy enjoy his feast now for there will come a time when his feast will be no more and he will have lots to answer for.
Simply put, Randy is nothing but the whore of the Titans who would kick him to the curb when he is no longer of value. Until then he will have his variances, business from the City of Lancaste, and a few props like that phony commission post from Mayor Rex to help him feel important. He will never be part of their inner cicle or know much because behind the scenes they laugh at him. He is their pawn. It’s alwmost as if he has PLEASE USE ME painted across the top of his forehead.
Let him insult Jeanne or anyone else. That is his way of demonstrating his anti-christlike behavior.
Remember Randy, in the end, everyoune pays their dues come judgment day.
There are so many wanting to get close to the mayor and serve him come his next election. Most are probably of a whore mentality that they will give their all for a few crumbs.
Let’s give thanks this Thanksgiving that the majority of us do not what to be the mayor’s political whores and that we seek blessings from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and pray for those who that being a whore of the system is the way to righteousness and God’s blessings.
May Jesus Chirst shield the sick such as Jeanne and others with his batillion of angels and keep all of a safe from the wickedness pf thought and deed that plagues this valley and have for so many decades.

You couldn’t EVER come close to being what Randy H is all about. I never met Randy, but he seems like a fine person.
Your game has always been about “goading” people to reply to you.
Sometimes it works, like right now.
You purport to being a “Christian” woman, but you lie. Like you pretend to know about me and accusing me of accepting (governmental services) when in fact you don’t know what in the hell you’re talking about. Add in the fact too that you have never even met me.
Even on Thanksgiving you find it appropriate to slam people.

awww….how sweet that this good christian woman, who daily spews hate filled comments in here and uses language fit only for drunken sailor on a Saturday Night in the name of her lord, comes in here on a day of thanks and attacks….. What a marvelous spirit she has as she abuses here fake Christianity to try and disguise her bigotry toward anyone who does not kiss her feet whenever she posts her vile and sickening missives..
Considering me ignorant from such an unlady is as relevant and important to me as what side of a tree a certain leaf will fall on a given day and time..
I feel great sympathy for someone of her ilk with so much hatred in their heart that they are unable, even on a day of thanks, to resist the temptation to post more of their incredibly inept and insipid babble.

NoSpin – feel no sympathy for me. Feel for yourself. I am at peace. Hope you can say the same. Being a Christian doesn’t mean I should not tell you or Randy what I think of you. In fact, read the bible a few more times, you just may come across the word infidel which is what I consider a few of the elected officials in Lancaster to be.
NoSpin – if I had posted babble, you would not respond. You must respond because you are one of those infidel types that worships at the feet of anyone with clout.
My you have changed. Last election you pretended to be so balanced and so intellectual.
The real you has finally emerged. Unable to cope with my comments, unable to show sympathy to people in pain such as Jeanne, unable to accept your satanistic spirit. Hey, you are not fooling me. You are Randy might as well shack up together now because an eternity in the flames is a long time. Try getting to know each other better now before those flames are lapping at your soul.

Thank God, 138. I don’t want to be a Randy. Selling my soul for a materialistic lifestyle that is only temporary if you believe in our Lord.
You be like Randy who by the way, baits you and taunts you and uses you only when he needs you. Most of the time his emails degrade you.
If you want to take on his personal, please feel free to do so. Ask him to send you the book on How To Be A Successful Political Whore.

Dear 138.
I believe I am a Christian now the judge of that will certainly not be you, Randy, or NoSpin. The judge is our Lord and Savior correct? So I’ll side step that nonsense you’ve just said.
You said I lied when I said you accepted government services. How did I lie? Your daughter was in the Head Start Program. Head Start is a federally funded government program that is paid for to the tune of at least $1 billion by American taxpayers. That is a government sponsored program. You don’t think the school districts pay for it do you? I use to be a Head Start auditor years and years ago. Those are FEDERAL FUNDS. So did I lie or are you just not aware that while you blast people on wlefare and taking handouts, YOU ARE TAKING HANDOUTS TOO.
Finally, I don’t think I want to meet you. Why would I want to meet someone who slames every person who is down on their luck yet sucks up all he can for his own family by taking the Pamdale School District to task for wanting to keep your daughter out of the program. They only let her back in because I called the right people. You were WRONG in how you handled the case.
I have commented on you only because you have seen fit to comment on me in such a vulgar way. I just think the pot has his nerve talking about the kettle when you 138 suck up all the benefits you can for your family.

DBW, didn’t you get paid recently to be a “political whore?” Isn’t a “whore” a person willing to sell themselves for a price?

I just don’t know how NoSpin, Cagey Wolf, Randy Hall, 138, Ron Smith under whatever moniker he’s using, and the rest of the Mayor Parris titty suckers are going to help him come election time when none of them have any pizzazz, any real facts, need scripts, think anyone who replies back to their stupidity, and can’t take a jab or two is going to be of value on this campaign.
In my association with Mayor Parris, I’ve never known him to like wimps. He’s got a whole platoon to choose from this bunch and each is an inept as the next.
PLEASE, IF YOU’RE READING THIS BLOG, DON’T FEEL OBLICATED TO BLOG. JUST READ AND THEN MAKE UP YOUR MIND. THESE GUYS UNDER ALL THESE PRETEND NAMES REALLY DO SUPPORT MAYOR PARRIS. NOW, IF I WAS MAYOR PARRIS, THAT WOULD MAKE MY KNEES KNOCK, MY TEETH CHATTER, MY HANDS SHAKE AND DRIVE ME TO TAKE AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT OR EVEN A FEW — IF THIS IS THE BEST HE’S GOT, PASS THE Xanax around and maybe even sniff a little glue. Anything to forget the name Randy, NoSpin, Cagey Wolf and the rest of the brigaide.
Glue over here …. spray paint over there ….. any qualudes

Diana..
My little chats with you have nothing to do with anyone but you.. you are fodder to me and keep me inspired to continue to be who I am because I see the ANTI me in you and it is sickening..
Once again, I would any day, any time, love to compare what I do to help children in this community to what you do for no one in this community..
I would, any day, any time, compare my life accomplishments to yours by simply looking at my very successful 7 children and how my family is such an amazing source of love and comfort for me..
But then again…I have no need to compare because, unlike you, I do not invent the truth and would never take anything you have done that is good away from you simply to maim you..
I am s happy we could spend some more happy time together today, I hope your Thanksgiving was joyous and fulfilling.
Mine was and now I will be leaving next week to visit my brand new twin granddaughters for the first time..
And that, Diana, is what real life is all about.. this is nothing but a distraction that keeps me from re-runs of “My Mother the Car”

It is somewhat scary having a “political whore” use that term as some sort of invective. I guess this is further proof of her self-loathing.

We know DBW is smart enough because she has told us how smart she is, that when using the term “political whore” she knew she was calling herself that too.
I’d never think of her as dumb so I guess this absolute proof of her self-loathing. I also goes to her feeling guilty about her past, so DBW if you are feeling guilty for selling yourself, I forgive you.

I see DBW has been ranting as usual and without the facts. For the record I supported Arnie Rodeo since I have known him for over 20 years and know him for a decent caring person who wanted to do whats best for the community. DBW just doesn’t get it that she is a racist and a know it all that hasn’t got a clue. Her spewing of hate against those that disagree with her moronic statements shows just what kind of christian she truly is. A hatchet christian.
