SCHOOLS KNOW THIS
I wonder whay some schools won’t give an answer and are talking in circles when asked if they are going to show the OB message of BS. THis is the guidelines and they don’t have show the thing.

United States Code Title 20. Education Chapter 48. Department of Education Subchapter I. General Provisions § 3403. Relationship with States (a) Rights of local governments and educational institutions It is the intention of the Congress in the establishment of the Department to protect the rights of State and local governments and public and private educational institutions in the areas of educational policies and administration of programs and to strengthen and improve the control of such governments and institutions over their own educational programs and policies. The establishment of the Department of Education shall not increase the authority of the Federal Government over education or diminish the responsibility for education which is reserved to the States and the local school systems and other instrumentalities of the States. (b) Curriculum, administration, and personnel; library resources No provision of a program administered by the Secretary or by any other officer of the Department shall be construed to authorize the Secretary or any such officer to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system, over any accrediting agency or association, or over the selection or content of library resources, textbooks, or other instructional materials by any educational institution or school system, except to the extent authorized by law.

I’ve just received news that Lancaster School District (K-8) will be participating.
As long as the President stays on the subject of the importance of getting an education and making something of yourself, I have no problem with him addressing students. In fact, it’s probably a good thing. I just hope that it doesn’t become a template for future and more-frequent classroom broadcasts.

The point is show the speech so parents see it with the kids if they so choose to do so. Lancaster school Dist. says as long as he stay on the topic. If he doesn’t the damage is already done. He has no business in the classroom.

I think the over-reaction comes in from the fact that he announced his plans for doing it without first giving a transcript of what he would say. School districts, rightfully, never allow anything distributed to the kids without it first being approved.
Sometimes it isn’t what you’re doing but how you go about it that counts.

Tell them about Ayers, Van Jones, teachings in Marxism, communism, his most liberal voting record as senator in ’07. He is the ultimate extremist.
The more kids see of Obama without knowing about him, the more Obama becomes acceptable and likeable, especially to kids. Obama’s a friendly guy and well spoken.
Tell your kids that even a stranger that’s nice could turn out to be the boogy man if you’re not careful.
I’m refering to kids of age, perhaps early teens. Cheers.

Give me a break! Presidents have addressed school children before and no president has ever been expected to give a transcript ahead of time.
It was quite common at one time for presidential speeches to be part of the curriculum for high school civics classes, we HAD to watch them and write reports on them. Thank GOD my parents weren’t so hyper-sensitive to every issue that they would have restricted my access to the speeches because of partisan political differences.
Irrational Overreaction? Yep, that about covers it.
Next up, boycotting local graduation ceremonies if local municipal leaders you don’t like are going to speak at them??

Denise, the major difference between Obama and Reagan or Bush Sr. is that Obama is a radical.
So I tell my kids all I know of Obama and they are free to watch/listen to him on Tuesday, if they want. They’re teenagers and wise enough, knowing of his past, not to fall for any BS he may try to slide thru. I expect Obama to be quite harmless on Tuesday.

I am with Marino. I will tell my kids who he is and his radical idiologies and how evil they actually are. We will speak of his relationship with a Church that spewes racial hate for the white people, William Ayers who wished he bombed more and Van Jones and the many others along with his horrid books. I have taught my children about stranger danger and how strangers will manipulate you and moleste you and not just sexually in some cases, but by trying to bend your thoughts and ideas. Mr. Obama is a stranger to them he is a face in the Whitehouse and so he’s the president, but he is still a stranger who I consider very,very dangerous. Just as he has said his kids are off limits so are mine. Presidents in the past have spoken to kids but on National Tele where parents could watch with their kids. We will encourage our children and they will not worship or idolize Obama. The speech obviously was wrong in the first place otherwise they wouldn’t of revised it. I don’t consider it fine and my kids won’t participate. He isn’t a President with the right stuff. His intentions are and always will be diabolical. He is going to say God Bless You and God Bless America hmmmm thats interesting. I don’t believe he’s sincere nor do I believe he believes in God the father. Well, if he does add that then maybe kids will be allowed to pray again in school because afterall, the one said in school.

And by the way… I have 7 kids, 3 college graduates, 2 married with kids and great jobs, one in college and my youngest who started her first year in HS..
NONE of them have been in Rehab or Jail. And none pregnant before they were 25.. And I have 3 amazing grand kids with two more, twins, due in December.. THAT is the kind of parent I am…
