KTPI FM and AM sold to RZ Radio inc.
Yep just checked www.ktpi.com and it list the new owners down at the bottom of the page, both their websites are “under Construction”, so will KTPI FM stay country, or will more hip hopsters be joining the FM dial? We already got 100.9 the heat and 105.5 KIIS FM, seems the market is already pretty much covered, losing a country station will only leave 87.7 fm which is country but hard to get around the AV, I’m hoping that High desert broadcasting, flips 1 of their stations, but that is a long shot
If KTPI does change formats, thanks for playing Garth, Reba, the Judds, Conway twitty, Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, as well as the newer artist over the years, thanks for the memories KTPI, you were the best, if you indeed change formats.

KTPI had some wonderful staff that I met on Monday night football and my boss used to do his Johnson Ford commercials at. But I assume that KTPI will be another spanish speaking radio station and will be lost for americans to enjoy country music.

It is my understanding, Jack, that KTPI is to become a “fusion station”’ – one combining both country and rap or simply crap. The station will also change its call letters, frequency and motto to “100.0 FM, KRAP, Pure
Crap’’”

One thing I miss. The good radio in LA. KTPI always was in tune with the AV. Their mobile stations have slways been visible at local events. Cyber is correct, no need for another rap station.
Trance/Electronica would be good. Some Armin Van Buuren, Justine Suissa, Jaren, would be a nice change of pace.

WOW Matt for a former teacher, you just got a C as in clueless, HELLO, 100.9 the heat studio is located in Quarts Hill, duh, also Matt you can’t just call up the office of Adelman broadcasting and request a power increase the next day, the FCC already pre determined how far out 87.7 can broadcast, send this kid the back of the class, where he belongs, LOL

Goes to show you how different the AV has become, if it didn’t become a spanish station it would be a South Central gangsta rap. What a pity, Sherry at KTPI was a wonderful DJ who sponsered many events, benefits and fund raiserers.

As a past president of the Quartz Hill Town Council: NONE of QH is in Lancaster. We border both Palmdale and Lancrapster. Yes, there have been annexations over the year that has made QH smaller. But QH is still a town and BOB radio is at the corner of 50th West and Ave M in the center of QH.
Bad Matt. Otherwise, Matt’s posting was interesting.

The stations will stay basically the same as they are now. No changes are planned, and while being owned by RZ, they will be operated by High Desert Broadcasting.
