California will run out of cash by early March if the state does not take swift action to find $3.3 billion through payment delays and borrowing, according to a letter state Controller John Chiang sent to state lawmakers today.

the feds bailed out financial institutions to the tune of $700 billion, why not one state at $3 billion?

we wont mention the $16 trillion the federal reserve has given away.

piss away our wealth overseas while we crumble at home.

what next? cut home heating oil assistance to the old and poor in the northeast?

I’d like to hear a presidential candidate say for the record that we will stop funding other nations and the United Nations (not to mention welfare and other social services)to illegal and legal aliens and that candidate would get my vote come next November.
I mean everyne but american citizens get a break,hell just about every nation ignored their war debt and loans frm World War Two and in the case of France who tried to devalue our currency after we saved their bacn once again. Then factor in Britain who we had to fight two wars of independence and bailed out after two world wars.
Isreal is a good example of why we should stop these welfare payments to foreign governements, first off read about the USS Liberty affair, Isreal also spied and conducted operations in the USA to gain the A and H bombs, and the fact that by acting like the nazis of the middle east has caused the USA to be hated by islam and the Palistine people whose land Isreal stolen.

I know a guy who is taking classes at the local community college for free and who has been offered multiple jobs but turned them down. I did a little digging and it turns out he is getting CalGRANTS, which are state grants to community college students of need.

Once I found out he was getting CalGRANTS, I asked him what sort of classes he was taking and he told me “…a pottery class, a History of Rock class, an English class that I need to re-take, beginning Theatre, etc.”

So, I pressed him further about what he wanted to do with himself and he said, “I’m not sure, maybe go to Cal State Long Beach or be one of those guys who design apps for phones”

How old do you think this guy is? …18? …19? …21 or 22 maybe? Nope! He is 26 about to turn 27 in May! By the time I was his age I had already had a bachelors degree for two years!

I’m the last person who wants to knock the arts or knock getting an education, because I support both, but at what expense?

How much more state money has to be flushed down the toilet on people like him who have no serious ambition and who aren’t taking their academic institutions and pursuits very seriously?

Community College is not exactly cheap anymore for the average, tuition-paying student. I know because my youngest brother just left community college to go on to the university level. So, why is our state giving people grants to be idle, play around and take up seat space?

If you do not show a certain amount of academic progress toward your stated major/goal, you should lose your state grants!

It’s no surprise we ran out of money—when Moonbeam signed the budget it was based on voodoo economic predictions. John Chiang pointed this out, but our joke of a legislature and Gov. Moonbean never listen. This has been CA’s story for the last 40 years. When the morons who voted for Moonbeam and the other jokers in the legislature did so, they (now us) get what we deserve.

CA has (and have) for the last 40 years the worse state legislatures and government in the country. Add to that LA County and it’s no wonder that we haven’t been forced into bankruptcy. I see the feds taking over CA and putting the TSA in charge.

California’s financial decline began when Ronald Reagan initiated payroll deductions for state income tax.

Reagan’s amnesty for ILLEGALS was the final nail in California’s financial coffin.

Before Reagan was governor, all Californians had to do their taxes and then write a check for what they owed. That kept the state budget under control.

Matt,There should be tution free for veterans, all others have to pay.
Hell I was a student in need I would have gladly accepted Calgrants but they were rationed out to the stooges of the administration and not to regular students at AVC.
But the worse is paying for those here illegally and the seats the anchor babies and other rif raff take and as long as others than american citizens get the breaks american citizens will fall farther behind in education and employment.
