All film processing labs and film-related businesses are closing. Kodak is bankrupt and they’ll have to re-name the theater where the Oscars are awarded. Kodachrome, once the gold standard of photography, is no more. It’s all digital now.

The owners of King photo changed their business to an internet cafe/ebay store or something like that. It’s the same owner, just a new business model. AS Ray said, film is dead.

Do they still service digital cameras? I used to go there for my camera repairs. They were good.

Yeah, kind of a bummer. They had a good run, but like Kodak itself it’s hard to make a radical switch in direction for any business. Trying to convert, say, a buggy whip business into a Taser manufacturer generally just doesn’t work.

We tend to assume something that worked so well yesterday will continue on forever, but as millions of American businessmen and there employees have discovered, it ain’t so.

You can get a slide gizmo that you put on your scanner and it will scan them as jpg’s to your computer. From there you can copy them to a DVD.

Here’s a crazy way that will work. Get a slide projector and a screen. Show the slides and take photos of them with your digital camera. They will be second generation images, but unless you have a really good slide scanner, you won’t get much better. Plus this will be faster.

That will work too. But I suggest that you project the image as small as possible and get camera as close as possible. This will get the best resolution. If you’re projecting it on the wall, make sure it’s smooth with no patches and holes like in Leonard’s house (there are a lot of holes in his walls where his wife has thrown heavy objects at Leonard trying to get him to do his chores. So far, Leonard has been able to duck real quick, hence the holes in the wall.)

Or go to Amazon and spend around $80 for a slide to computer scanner.

Ha-
Actually slide-scanners that plug-in directly into your computer are not that expensive.
