Blogav is back, though we had to restart the site. You can register yourself.
The server got hacked, and it appears it was not intentionally directed at Blogav, but at people who use the php format I was using, as there was an easy exploit.
So we start fresh again.

sorry Randy, but I have more than a dozen emails back and forth between me and godaddy as they tried to resolve the problem. Not just with me either, but with multiple users using the same php program.
Or maybe it was a great big godaddy conspiracy to get rid of conservatives.. LOL!

For those choosing to come back, you have to re-register. The entire database was jacked up, so there was no saving user data.
I’ve made the process much easier, you no longer have to wait around for an admin to approve your membership.

Actually it is a good site, nothing wrong with it. I went there, invited, hoping it would provide an alternative to this site.
And there are some differences, but TO ME, not as many as I had hoped for. I am sure I will attacked for even suggesting the site was not what I had hoped for, but it is precisely why I was disenchanted, plain and simple..
And I do hope, for Denise’s sake, the site does well…

Blogav is just an alternative site, whether it is a success or not is really up to the people that come to blog there.
Wayne, I could not tell you at this point if your account was deleted because of a hack or not. Godaddy can not say for sure when it happened, and the company that created the templating software says that the only boards affected where on godaddy servers. All I know is that I got an email from a blogger telling me the site was down, and when I went to see why, I could not log into my own server because all the passwords in the password vault were corrupted.
Bottom line, I buy from godaddy to completely differently types of hosts. 1 is a windows based server where I host most of the websites I own or administer. It currently hosts about 50 local websites, mostly nonprofit sites, but the occasional political or commercial site.
Then I own a “shared” Linux server, thats where Blogav is hosted from. Unlike the windows server, where I own all the dedicated space, I share the Linux server and only control the space I pay for. Prior to blogav, the whole purpose for owning the linux server was that I used it as a remote storage for backing up data. When I finally got access to the linux host machine, everything I had there was corrupted, not just the blogav data.

the problem here ace is randi did something that came close to destroying a deal, THAT CAN’T BE TOLD HERE. why??? because besides the best effort by tb to destroy the deal, it was salvaged at the last minute. the person tb went after can no longer state their case, without it being killed. since it involved the powerless, the person involved is looking out for those who need the most help. unlike tb, who would take from the powerless, for no other reason, then to prove he can. welcome to lancaster politics, where the illusion of power is so important to some, that many will be sacrificed.

Civility is a word without any meaning to the blogav moderators. The only time “civility matters” is when you make up stuff like I did when I tested their “civility” policy.
I made up a plausible rumor and was immediately censored and told that wasn’t civil. I was also told bloggers would be civil to each other but everyone that didn’t blog there was fair game.
I was even told rumor and innuendo where as American as apple pie. So “civility” is a concept devoid of any meaning just as the moderator’s word has no meaning either.
You got to love the left. Imagine those marching to those WWII ghettos being told nothing will happen too you. When words lose there meaning men lose their freedom.
Our word should be precious yet we see so often the argument to not take someone at their word. I took Frank Jorge at his word and am told his word is meaningless too. Wonder what Frank thinks? My guess is Frank takes his word seriously and stands by it. That is why I do.

What I am guessing the response will be is the “I do not have time to monitor the site 24-7”… Ok, great.. and I am sure true..
BUT..how can you possibly design a site whose foundation is based on civility if you are unable to, for good reason, insure the foundation is secure?
I am simply asking questions and presenting “Kinks in the armor” in an effort to legitimize a site that proclaims “Civility” as their mantra, but allows posts that, to me, do not honor the pledge.

Blogav is a COMPLAINT driven site. I don’t read every post, and I have no intention of trying to find the time to do so, so unless and until someone that blogs on Blogav posts a specific complaint on a post, which is as easy as clicking a button, there is nothing for me to do.
Further, I have never, before or after blogav went down, moderated any post without a complaint being registered.
My personal feeling is that I wish that intheav crap would stay here, and blogav would stay focused on blogav, but I’m not the thought police.

I do not remove posts with no cause, period. no complaint has been posted by anyone, including Ace, who handled himself very well in that particular debate.
Until and unless there is a complaint filed on a specific post, the bloggers on blogav can talk about whatever they like, which, once again, they are doing without complaint, without name calling, and without attacking each other.
So, even though you managed to post 1 post, there are no examples of fighting or namecalling between bloggers you can post because it has not happened. Strangely enough, when given the opportunity, some people can act like adults.
Further, we do not censor political posts just because people might disagree with an opinion, it doesn’t matter whether the post is anti-Obama or anti-Rex, pro tea party or pro progressives.
I should add that Ace is completely censored here and not allowed to participate at all, but has been very responsible on blogav, so this “uncensored” free for all where people are allowed to say pretty much anything bans others just because they are unpopular… go figure.

Will rumors be considered “civil?” If you tolerate in a “civil” forum rumors and innuendo then count me out. I learn from my mistakes. Best to stay in this wild west forum of anarcy than a faux forum of some imposed moral (civil) code. A code a moral code written or not written maybe felt and we know perception is left reality.
