Open Challenge
There are a couple people here that claim to be neutral in the mayoral race.
I have a challenge for you, should you choose to accept. Call Time Warner, ask for Russ Williams or any reporter, and ask them about the security footage that “AV Observer” claims exists of “Arnie Rodio pulling up into the parking lot, and then leaving” on March 29th, before 12 pm.

While I know the footage doesn’t exist, just like I know absolutely he had nothing to do with the “China” commercials, its way past time to set the record straight on the constant and compulsive lying done by this blogger.

Even for the biggest Rex supporter, you have nothing to lose by demanding this video. Time Warner I’m sure would love to have this footage, because it would completely prove the position that they believe they gave Rodio the correct dates, and boy would it make good television if the video existed. They’ve demolished candidates before for making false claims (Gaynor) during an election.

So, for AVO, put up the video footage. For anyone else, and ask them if the security video exists.

Why bring me into this?

I have said all along that Rodio is not responsible for not being at the Forum and that it was a regrettable error..

Russ is an Honorable man and would never be a part of something like that..

No Spin, am I missing something or were you the guy on this very blog last night demanding that Rodio distance himself from advertising he had already REPEATEDLY DENIED having anything to do with.

How come Rex Parris is not immediately called to the carpet when his idiots, like AVO, come on here with their lies. Do a site search, it was AVO who posted a lot of stuff 2 years ago about Mann. There is NO DOUBT he is involved in the “Parris camp” as he was posting hit mail allegations here before the mail even went out.

So, when does Parris get held responsible for his lackeys?

You’re acting like a child Marino, and apparently you’d rather believe a very bad liar even when the truth is obvious to anyone with even half a brain.

It’s one thing to support a candidate, its another to do it with no integrity at all. You want to promote your candidate, who can’t even be your candidate really as you don’t even live in the city, fine, do it all you want. Have a parade, shout it from the highest building, but be honest about it. Don’t propagate lies, because once you do that, you’re as big a liar as the guy who posted them to begin with.

From an email I received today:

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”.

All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than this.

“It was not the Church that sexualized society with Kinseyesque sex miseducation and prurient messages everywhere — in movies, shows, music and on the Internet. That was leftist academia, Hollywood, and their brothers in porn. It was not the Church that expanded the First Amendment to include protection of obscene imagery. That was leftist judges. It was not the Church that spread moral relativism and its corollary, “If it feels good, do it,” an idea that can find pedophilia no worse than peanut butter. That was leftist philosophers and the millions who wanted freedom to sin. It was not the Church that, reducing man to mere beast, found a basis for his behavior in the animal kingdom. That was leftist anthropologists and their acolytes. And it was not the Church that first subordinated punishment to “rehabilitation” and subscribed to slap-on-the-wrist pseudo-justice. That was leftist psychology. Of course, insofar as the Church has allowed itself to become infected with the spirit of the age, it is culpable. But know that it is the infected, not the infection.

As for the cure, the Church has done much in recent times to root out sexual abuse — far more than the schools. Even closer to the point, its teachings provide necessary guide rails for man’s sexuality. Yet critics call this age-old wisdom “antiquated.” The left obviously prefers to take its lead from the Kinsey Distorts, Hugh Hefner, and Hollywood. But if the pleasure principle is going to be our master, then we shouldn’t wonder why we’re taking our children on a field trip through Caligula’s court."

MK, my wife teachs special ed. The kids she teaches will be lucky to be able to dress themselves in the morning when they are your age.

I know those students well, Randy. Usually S.D.D. or Severe T.M.H. Now, tell me Randy, in all honesty, do you think a private school can or would take kids like that? They don’t! Instead, kids with severe learning disabilities are dumped in the public school system, as are kids whose parents tried to put them in private school and then figured out there was “something wrong” and took them to a psychologist who diagnosed their learning disability and told the parents to put them in a public school.

You can sit here and demean public education when it is people like your wife, myself, the supportive staff and others who are the ones charged with treating these kids with dignity and accommodating them — something a private school wouldn’t know the first thing about. After all, if you’ve got a disabled kid, it must be a “generational curse” due to “sin”.

Don’t kid yourself, Matthew. If we have had a voucher system for education, special schools for all kinds of kids would sprout up everywhere. It’s called capitalism, and it works every time it’s given a chance.

That is, of course, if you can afford it.Socialism isn’t the answer to everything, but neither is capitalism.

Unfettered capitalism destroys everything it touches.

For lancaster: "So do the Church’s critics really care about sexual abuse? Some do, for sure. But there’s no doubt that many of those using the issue to attack the Church do not. And “using” is the key word. If they truly cared about sexual abuse of youth, they would take pains to emphasize that it isn’t limited to the priesthood. Oh, I’m not saying that they would necessarily do this to defend the Church; they would do it to truly expose the problem. Instead, they’re simply interested in exposing the Church to ridicule, and to this end, they use these abuse victims as a convenient vehicle through which to attack a hated adversary. This is typical of the left, which makes a practice of using people as human shields, props, and political hammers.

Of course, crimes against innocence are abhorrent, and those committing them should be rooted out wherever and whoever they may be. Likewise, those who knowingly and negligently facilitate their abuse must be punished harshly, and the incompetent should lose their positions. But this just states the obvious. If we really want to move toward a more sexually sane society — get at the root causes, as it were — then we must delve more deeply."

I think the problem Randy, for me anyway, is that we expect more from certain entities. I think everyone expected the Catholic Church to do more to protect kids instead of pedophilic priests.

I agree PK, the Church could have done alot more than they have. I don’t donate to certain charities due to that crappy response.

My point is selective outrage, and the attempt at the smear.

Sure, I’ll admit the Church could have done more, but it is taking extrordinary steps now. Everyone who volunteers in the Church has to take special training and it is updated regulary. We stated the classes about three years ago.

Randy,

Why don’t you and other Roman Catholics simply raise your voice and demand an end to the ludicrous and unscientific notion that your priests must only be male and celibate?

Why do you put a failed (and obviously catastrophic) tradition above logic and honest reasoning?

Catholicism is dying in Europe and it is because of the Church wanting to hold on to archaic notions regarding human biology and a misogynist outlook on clerical service.

Neither the Greek/Russian Church, nor the Anglicans — both of whom allow clergy to marry and the latter which allows for the ordination of women — are befallen to the same scandal that currently engulfs Rome.

I have nothing against the Roman Catholic Church, except for these issues. For this to go on for so long, thru so many generations is beyond belief.

For Priests, who were looked upon as ‘messengers of God’, revered and cherished and thought to be ‘blessed by God’ were actually sexually ABUSING young children across the world and getting away with it – until now.

This crisis in the Church, as Matt says, exposes the “archaic notions regarding human biology and a MISOGYNIST” presence which does not apply anymore because of our modern society…not influenced by Hollywood, but by a more open society that will TALK about this, realizing that it is abuse, not the norm.

For the religious community to continue to condemn gay rights is like asking a woman who’s been raped by her father to become a whore.

The Episcopal Church is going thru a similar division where the new ‘Anglican’ church groups hate gays and feel that women are inferior as ministers and priests, and therefore have not ‘earned’ their presence at the alter.

This is not Christian – it’s all about power OVER the weak, nothing else.

Why don’t you that have done no research on the issue, do so before making incorrect statements?

If every group of people that contained a percentage of pedophiles within them dissapeared from the face of the earth, there would be no one left.

Nobody is suggesting that a percentage of priests aren’t pedohiles, but it’s likely no greater than the percentage of non-Catholic men that have molested kids.

Muslim men in various countries can marry girls aged 9-13, and you’re more concerned with catholics. Amazing. Should they be allowed to bring their 9 yr old brides to the U.S.?

A U.S. Department of Education report issued in 2004 examined a number of American studies into the prevalence of sexual misconduct by school staff. They found that between 3.5% and 50.3% of students are targets of educator sexual misconduct sometime during their school career. They found that teachers, coaches, substitute teachers were the most common offenders.

If this report is accurate, then sexual abuse by priests in the Roman Catholic church, and by other clergy, appears to pale in comparison with the abuse experienced by children and youths in the public schools.

the problem is the cover up. marino is 100% correct on the fact that there isn’t any one group that doesn’t have some form of predator amongst their populace. the problem is when the group try’s to protect the group instead of the victims.

what’s hilarious about toyboy’s response, the liberal media made them do it!

really? in the 50’s and 60’ it was the libs of the 80’s and 90’s?

like there hasn’t been pedophiles in the catholic church for centuries!
must of been them left wing plays by shakespeare, corrupting the poor lil men. lolololol

none of which explains the churches, which has never tried to protect the children.
ONLY THE HIERARCHY! SACRIFICING KIDS
INSTEAD OF THE POWER HOLDERS.

and the fact that “for 3 yrs” they come up with procedures to bring it to an end has every thing to do with being caught, protecting themselves, and nothing to do with protecting children!
without the media exposing the whole sordid history of the church, it would be business as usual.

Marino, it isn’t just that a small number of priests are also pedophiles – you’re right when you say a percentage of any group of people fall in this category.

The difference here is that the Catholic Church PROTECTED the pedophiles; moved them around from parish to parish in an effort to conceal their activities and did not keep them away from children.

It’s important to note that these decisions were made by those in administrative positions and not by rank and file members. I have a number of close friends who are Catholic and they say they are tired of having to explain the unexplainable and having the faith they’ve held sacred their entire lives ridiculed by outsiders. My heart goes out to them.

and by all means, lets remember WHY the church started demanding celibacy.

THEY DIDN’T WANT LANDS INHERITED BY ANYONE BUT THE CHURCH!

With the advent of the Dark Ages around 500, the upheavals in society saw a decline in clerical discipline and with it, a return to marriage and even the keeping of concubines by priests. During this time, the wealth of the church was also increasing, a development not lost on Rome. Many priests were leaving church lands to their heirs, and others handed down land of their own through primogeniture. The Holy See saw that a return to the celibacy rule would result in a real-estate bonanza, and in about 1018 Pope Benedict VIII put teeth in the Elvira decree by forbidding descendents of priests to inherit property. Later, in the 11th century, Pope Gregory VII, who had assumed vast power by declaring himself the supreme authority over all souls, went even further by proscribing married priests from saying mass; he also forbid parishioners from attending masses said by them. Scholars believe that the first written law forbidding the clergy to marry was finally handed down at the Second Lateran Council in 1139.
