Obama Hides Behind ‘Executive Privilege’ In Damage Control Over Fast and Furious

The House Oversight Committee hearings have put both Eric Holder and the White House on their back heels this morning, further fueling a scandal which has now forced the White House into a rear-guard action.
In a move that is certain to fuel speculation about Barack Obama’s knowledge of the Federal government’s clandestine gun-running operation into the Mexican black market, the President has moved to claim ‘executive privilege’ regarding any documents relating to the notorious “Operation Fast and Furious.”
The case has reached a critical juncture as the House panel has finally moved to hold Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. in criminal contempt after he failed to comply with official Congressional requests to hand over thousands of cables and documents relating to the scandal.
According to reports this morning from the Washington Post:
In a letter sent to Obama late Tuesday, Holder urged Obama to exert executive privilege, because sharing internal documents with lawmakers could “have significant, damaging consequences.”
Sharing the documents “would inhibit candor of such Executive Branch deliberations in the future and significantly impair the Executive Branch’s ability to respond independently and effectively to congressional oversight,” Holder wrote to Obama.
Last night, the embattled US Attorney General Holder attempted to cut a deal with the House and Senate committees, hoping to walk free in exchange for handing over missing documents – but Holder’s offer was rejected by House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) who plans to move ahead with a motion for contempt.
The Washington Post details Holder’s attempt at a backroom escape from suffering contempt charges:
The attorney general met Tuesday night with leaders of the House oversight committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee in hopes of reaching an agreement that would have Justice hand over requested documents in exchange for the House panel dropping its plans to vote on contempt charges Wednesday.
If the House committee cites Holder for criminal contempt, it would open a process that would require House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) to schedule a floor vote. If passed by the full House, the matter would then move to the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Ronald C. Machen Jr., who is an employee of the Justice Department.
Holding an Executive Branch official in contempt of Congress is rare, having occurred just four other times in the last three decades.
Since the scandal surfaced back in early 2011, some commentators had warning that the gravity of the arms trafficking crimes in question could make ‘Fast and Furious’ this White House’s Watergate moment, and a potentially devastating blow to the flagging Obama during the run-up to this November’s US Presidential election.
During a in-depth Infowars.com investigation into Fast and Furious, it was discovered that ATF, DEA and FBI agents working under the direction of the US Department of Justice, were illegally acquiring firearms through straw purchasers in states like Arizona, and then intentionally flooding the black market around the Mexican border regions with thousands of illegal guns – in order to demonize and regulate gun sellers in US border states. As a result, multiple lives were lost at the hands of gangs using Fast and Furious weapons including federal agents in the line of duty. The operation was ultimately designed to set the stage for further restrictions on the Second Amendment and increased gun restrictions in the near future.
Obama’s latest retreat towards executive privilege may be construed by the public and some media as an indirect admission of guilt by association, and will most likely lead to an increase in damage control from White House spin doctors – hoping to avert a similar fate suffered by Richard Nixon, whose cover-up went from bad to worse and eventually led to his humiliating resignation.
Ultimately, Fast and Furious could be the straw which breaks this administration’s grip on the strings of power in the White House

There is absolutely no reason why this man should not be arrested and yet the people most able to have not. To me it speaks volumes as to how many are corrupt and will sell all of us out over a bribe, an immoral encounter(the honey pot), or via threats to ones self or family. To me, no one person is more important than an entire nation regardless of blood ties or loving feelings. You have to put the nation as a whole above any personal issues or fears. If one cannot do that then they have no business in politics or WA. D.C.

Holder better have a good reason for lying and not cooperating with Congress. His reason, protecting President Obama.
Unless Obama can say Fast and Furious is of national security concerns, there are some serious issues waiting to be disclosed.
If it is not a national security issue, Holder should go to jail. That is what Holder tried with Bonds and Clemmons.

While listening to Radical Right Ring Radio today, I heard that a fact checker, researched Obama’s book, and found 39 probable lies in the book. Obama may be able to excuse them as exaggerations, ala John Kerry.
I am starting to believe, after Obama’s presidency, he will get “Boooo’d” at public events. People are starting to see the light about the far left and their selective reporting in the media (NBC) and how the administration has used them for cover.
The libs complain about FOX News, but they were the only media outlet to follow and report on the Fast and Furious investigation. There was a report that NBC reported only one Fast and Furious story in over a year. Now, the media has no choice to report the story.
The left is being exposed. A lot of common sense Democrats will give Obama a second thought before they commit to support him. Obama will keep his lock on the black vote, the entitlement groups, and NBC. That is still a formidable voting force for Obama.

When the left is in power and their puppet has pushed the limits for the NWO bankers, and the people are ready to revolt, the banksters just throw support behind their puppet on the right via financial and media support. The people then vote in another puppet only one whos rhetoric is right leaning. What their words are is something entirely different from what they do. Right, left, it’s a false choice.
People, stop being gamed. Do some of you like to be chumps to these elites? Do you like the fact they think their so much smarter than you? Is it “all good” to have them use the police against citizens? The police are supposed to be on our side yet they try to intimidate everyone they come across. They are twisted by those who train them as well as federal agencies advising them. They are lied to about patriots, protestors, militia, and thats before they get home to the TV. Then the real programming begins.
So damn sad that so many are cowards to stand up to real evil and instead act like brave men and women when dealing with people like Kelly Thomas, or some guy drunk driving.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is inviting public comments on its new rule regarding shotguns. It plans to ban them.
There will be a ban on imports. (Note: watch prices rise on those already in the USA.)
The basis of this ban will be the guns’ semi-automatic status. It the magazine has more than five rounds, the weapon will be banned.
Why? Because the BATF designates these as “military.”
Somehow, I cannot see Sergeant York with a 7-round shotgun taking on the Germans.
Gen. George Patton wore ivory-handled revolvers. I wonder if these are scheduled for a ban.
The guns must be used in sport, only.
Yet there are shooting competitions involving held by national shooting clubs.
Dudley Brown, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, said if the ATF succeeds with the banning of tactical shotguns it “will be the most dangerous interpretation of the 1968 Gun Control Act ever envisioned and will outlaw thousands of perfectly legitimate home defense shotguns.”

It IS NOT permissible for the President of the United States or the Attorney General of the United States to use the power of their offices to obstruct justice, spread disinformation, manipulate voter blocs, confer special rights to selected political constituencies, employ double standards in justice, enact laws through fiat, fail to enforce the existing laws of our nation, or suppress the rights of political adversaries!
The reasons why President Obama would invoke “executive privilege,” which leaves Attorney General Eric Holder free from having to provide subpoenaed documents to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, are being widely called into question – on both sides of the political aisle.
As of this morning…
*The sweeping power grabs by the Obama administration in order to evade constitutional constraints are being challenged.
*The integrity of the President’s statements regarding his knowledge and potential involvement in “Fast and Furious” is now drawing close scrutiny.
*The timing of the assertion of “executive privilege” coming over a year after the launch of the investigation is the subject of countless news reports, blogs, and newspaper columns.
I believe this clearly politically-motivated action on the President’s part will ultimately backfire.
Liberal “progressives” are calling the Contempt of Congress charges against Attorney General Eric Holder an “election year political witch hunt,” but those looking for truth and accountability now suspect a massive cover-up.
President Barack Obama, who has repeatedly promised the American people a transparent administration, once again denied Congress and the American people access to vital information.

Last week, on the anniversary of the historic Watergate scandal, Americans were once again reminded that the Nixon administration’s illegal actions were only exposed due to the persistence of the Washington Post investigative reporters.
Richard Nixon did everything in his power to cover up his administration’s illegal activities, including asserting executive privilege, which was later overturned in court. The rest is history.

Just a little more iceing on the cake of lost democracy and due process.This Country is a ticking time bomb,if these politicians dont straighten up there will be trouble. I am one that has generally kept quite about the direction we as a nation have taken but it is not fixing itself it is in fact getting much much worse.Not only have the American people lost faith the world treats us as if we have body odor.We need radical change and now.
