Autopsy of the election
THE LANCASTER ELECTION SCAM
—WE—DA PEOPLE’ TAKE IT IN THE SHORTS
News and commentary by J. P. ‘Vote Early—Vote Often’ Biddle
The April 13th Lancaster elections are now history, so let’s perform an autopsy on it and see where things went so wrong and why democracy came to Lancaster to die.
The biggest problem, of course is voter apathy. A vast, vast majority of the potential voters just throw up their hands in disgust at the choices and stay home.
Sadly, this is why we’re saddled with the corrupt government that we have.
For those of you keeping score at home, let’s look at the box scores:
Measure M: This extended the Mayor’s term from two years to four years. This is the only thing on the entire ballot that made any sense. Since the Mayor gets to preside over council meetings and gets to vote as a council member, then it makes sense to serve a term equal to other council members.
In larger city’s like LA, NY and most east-coast establishments, the city council is separate from the Mayor. The council has their own president and they legislate. They then send it to the Mayor to be signed either into law or vetoed. They run like the state or federal government.
Measure I: This is the prayer at council meetings. This is really lame and will be overturned by the Supreme Court at great expense to the tax payers. For one thing, we live in a republic. We don’t allow mob rule. Just because a majority of clowns voted for this—it’s still unconstitutional. The majority can’t vote away the minority’s rights. That’s why we have a Supreme Court. They are to rule on the Constitutionality of issues brought before them.
Measure I discriminates against non-christians. I’m not even sure why this was on the ballot in the first place. City Hall is NOT a church (especially with all the criminal activity that goes on under the guise of city business).
If you want to pray—go to church. The city council could just offer a minute of silent reflection. This would solve the problem and save the city $millions in defending the lawsuits.
Measure C: This males Lancaster a Charter City like Palmdale. Unlike Palmdale’s charter, Lancaster’s is so crooked that it makes you wonder if it won’t be investigated by the US Attorney’s office. It seems Lancaster will now fall under the RICO act.
This charter gives the Mayor (aka Godfather) too much power. It turns Lancaster into a ‘patronage’ form of government. If you think it’s costly to open a business in LA County(the permitting process is so expensive and corrupt) that will be nothing compared to what’s in store for Lancaster. The only people that will benefit will be Jim Gilley, Frank Visco, Jim Vose, Scott Erlich, and Rick Clutter (to name just a few). If you’re NOT friends with Don Rex and the mob, you don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting a city contract, or permits to build.
City Council results: The problem is that you have too many shills running and it dilutes the water (The same is true in the Mayoral race). A crook like Ron Smith gets re-elected. Why? Mainly because a vast majority of the people just sat home on their fat asses and did not vote. What happened to the 6000 or so people that signed the Smith re-call petition?
As some political wags have said: “You get the government you deserve.” All I can say is that god, I don’t live in Lancrapster.
In the case of Marvin Crist; this is one that I don’t understand. He ran a few years back and King Rex and his Titans raked him over the coals, screwed him in the ass. All of the sudden, this year King (I mean Don) Rex appoints him to the criminal commission (seems fitting) and then throws their support behind him. It looks like good ole Marvin sold out (or did he wake up one morning to find a severed horse head in his bed?)
The good news is that Jonathon Ervin ran a close third. I believe that he has a good chance of ousting Sherry Marquez in two years.
The strangest vote result was that perennial council candidate David Abber got more than 500 votes!
The Mayoral race: this wasn’t so much a shocker as a disappointment. But you have to give credit here credit is due. Based on what campaign material I saw (I didn’t see, or was aware of any hit-mailers that may have gone out, as I don’t reside in the city) Rex came off looking slick (after all, he’s a trial lawyer). He treated the voters as if there were (sheep) jurors.
Sadly, those that vote, a vast majority do NOT use due diligence and vote by name and face recognition. The fact that Rex’s face is plastered all over billboards everywhere in the Av and his ad runs on TWC all day long, is what got him elected.
By the time he leaves office, Lancrapster will be so firmly locked in the hands of organized crime, that the people will never get it back.
While Arnie Rodio may have run an honest campaign, he was too laid back and failed to respond to criticisms against him and missed a very important candidates debate. This cost him. He needed to run a more visible campaign, get out there, and increase his visibility. Sadly, he didn’t and now all will suffer the consequences.
He can’t blame all the shills who were on the ballot, as their total vote count wouldn’t have been enough to impact the results one iota.
Suggestion: Whomever is going to run against King Rex in two years, better start raising money now and start campaigning a year before the election. You will need to get out there and press the flesh and get you face on TV and radio, write letters to the editor in the AV Press. You will need to stick to issues and NOT personal attacks.
However, there is some good news. With Lancrapster becoming a fascist city, the Red Chinese will feel right at home. I’m sure they will flock here to take all those new jobs that King Rex will create. It will drastically cut the high unemployment rate there. It won’t help much here.

Before I waste my time reading this post please answer this.
Why would I care what your opinion is if your election call was so off? What I mean is your “paper” is supposed to be the pulse of the community. Your call should be from one of facts not feelings.
Does anyone think the reason Fox is doing so well and the NYTimes is sucking is because Fox has its finger on our pulse?

Randy Hall: Does anyone think the reason Fox is doing so well and the NYTimes is sucking is because Fox has its finger on our pulse?
In all actuality, that probably has more to do with the declining level of intellect among our population than anything else. It has been shown that most people read at a Sixth Grade level, despite all of the efforts made on behalf of educators. You become a better reader (and writer) by broadening what you read. This is something that is taught in school but rarely ever adhered to.
People that are less creative are also less inclined to read, which means that they won’t go out of their way to read the New York Times, which is written at a high school level — six grades above the average American!
The less creative in society are more stimulated by visual media and more attracted to journalism that evokes fear and anger over logic and reason.

Sad MK, you keep picking on the public education most have today. You’re sure mean to those teachers; you should lighten up.

Actually, Randy, I wasn’t. I was holding the public responsible for not taking their teacher’s advice more seriously.
( send private message )
Randy Hall says...
I totally understand MK, that your advice which is from a teacher is the population at large got a crappy education because they didn’t do what teachers want.
About right?
AVTC, I totally understand why you couldn’t find the pulse of this community, but thankfully Rex, Ron, and Marv did.
Who else has the pulse of the community? Hummm…The Republican Party has been very successful. Wal-Mart, Right aid, Duke & Slims, AV Press, AVPO, and this list goes on and on and on…

I never said you were stupid. On the contrary, it is you who have actually demeaned other people based on their occupation (CJ). I actually admire what you do and I am glad you found your niche. What I posted about Americans reading at a Sixth Grade level is a fact. What I posted about the less-creative being more visually stimulated is also a fact. These are documented patterns in society.

Also, how someone could fail to see what the “Jesus Question” on the ballot was all about, still escapes me. It’s just a matter of taking the time to read the sample ballot, seeing Paul Chappell’s name and connecting the dots. It’s about using City Hall for the purpose of proselytisation, plain and simple.

“Autopsy” is simple:
Same old formula: depend on low turnout, get the “churcher” voting block to the polls. This year, by putting a ridiculous “Christ in our council” measure on the ballot.
Check and mate.
Churchers care more about THEIR GUY getting in than they care about good governance or Constitutionality. Proof (beyond Bush, Palin, etc. which is proof enough): the very measure that got them to the polls. Its unAmerican and unconstitutional…but so what as long as THEY want it?
No surprises yesterday…in a city with a POSITIVELY CLEAR CROSS thinly disguised in their city logo!

An education can help you but once again, if you’re stupid, it won’t help much.
Do me a favour and share your definition of “stupid” (this should be interesting).
At one time you were a moderate, showing some common sense, whereas now you’re simply making a fool of yourself without any help from others.
So, it’s OK to be a conservative and a hypocrite and self-serving, being a “moderate” is OK, but actually applying critical thinking and realising that it might put you more on the left is “making a fool” of one’s self? Yeah. Got it, Marino!
Quit your foolishness while you havn’t hit bottom. You’re talking to successful people that have made it, as if you’ve accomplished as much or more. If you’re open minded people here can help you.
Who? and help me with what? Become more like them? as in be more self-absorbed, self-righteous and forget about humanity? forget that I am part of something greater than myself? join a backwards, socially-retarded cult and listen to some man preach at me every Sunday while he lives high on the hog. Forget it!
I’ve been open-minded to this way of thinking and I found that it took me dangerously close to becoming the selfish, self-absorbed, greedy, What’s-in-it-for-me, bigot that I grew up despising.
If that’s what you mean, then No Thanks!

One big difference between liberals and conservatives is concern for humanity. Liberals think hooking them on a government hand-out is concern. Conservatives know for a person to have self-worth you have to earn it.
Taking care of someone isn’t compassionate unless that person is incapable to taking care of themselves. But lazy people have overrun the liberal ability to hand out compassion to the point that only 53% of people support the other 47%!
A liberal thinks that’s good. A conservative thinks that’s a plan for failure and enslavement.
What was Churchill’s quote? Start as a liberal because you are young; as you age you want success for yourself and others. Forgive my paraphrase but you get the idea.

Whose bitching? All I see are typed words and none of them are in caps on my end.
Us disagreeing on something is not tantamount to “bitching”.
As for me doing what you do and doing it better, I highly doubt that. I am not a business-minded person in the slightest. It takes someone of a distinct character to be a business person.
My expertise and mission in life is the humanities. My thesis is going to revolve around the methods used in hospice facilities and making sure that one’s spiritual passing from this earth is just as safe as their arrival was. I also want to explore what can be done to make the end of life easier for the soul whose journey is almost over. Today, more and more people are abandoning their elderly parents to the unpleasant environment of nursing homes and hospices and that can be a terrifying way for one to live their final years. It has taken me several years to figure this out, but I finally did.

Wow, that’s awsum, Matt. I was my father’s advocate for 6 years; medical/nursing home/financial – so I know both how much work this is, how important it is – and also how some people just ‘abandon’ their loved ones in nursing homes. Good for U!

The southern states are among the poorest in the nation, going by per capita income. They also have the highest rates of diabetes. One big turning point in this election happened when Sherri Marquez made her statements about Islam being a violent religion. Rodio made the mistake of jumping on the politically correct side in bashing her and being seen with Kamal at the news conference. Most people agreed with what Sherry Marquez said. Rodio turned away a lot of voters from the center right who might have been leaning his way. The Rodio supporters continued to make Marquez a target, however, I think that move backfired on the campaign.
Although I have been super critical of LBC and AVRA, I had no choice but to vote for their ticket of Rex, Crist, and Smith. The other candidates were very week, including Rodio.
I am still waiting for a conservative Republican who is going to stand up and run against the AVRA – Visco bunch.

That’s a convenient excuse! Yes, keep scapegoating the Muslims. If you are one of the people who buys into Sherry’s line of thinking about Islam, well, that’s not something I would boast about.

You haven’t figured this out by now? LOL. You probably never will then. They are one and the same.

Matt: What Sherry said is what a lot of people agree with, not because we are biggots or racist. The Islamic extremest, as Obama prefers not to call them, has set the tone for their reputation. When an Islamic man kills and cuts his wife’s head of in New York, that is not normal behavior. When an Islamic man kills his daughter because she was leaning towards progressive ways of life here in the states, he cuts her head off. Both these occurred during the last year in America. When people see the Taliban shooting a woman in the head in Afghanistan, cutting off Nick Bergs head on video, blowing up children, suicide bombers in Israel walking up to a line of school children and blowing himself up, …… Most people do agree that it is a violent religion. With extremest, you can expect dumb ass acts of violence, even from the Christian far right. Saying that I am using the muslims as a scapegoat is just another way for a liberal like yourself to deflect the truth. Matt, you would not live long in a muslin country, many of us Americans would not live long there either. Wake up, smell the coffee, would you rather live in America with your progressive liberal lifestyle or in Saudi Arabia or some other Islamic state? Be glad you live amongst Christians!!

avbb,
Am I correct in understanding you in saying that you “held your nose” and voted for Parris, Smith, and Crist? Was it a case of, “the devil you know” versus “the devil you don’t know?”
This is a serious question. I think many more moderate Republicans Lancaster saw things this way and voted the way you did.
Unfortunately, the Republicans will not clean their own house, so it may come down to the point where a Democrat majority gets activated. At some point, the local Republican Party is going to have to govern from somewhere in the middle. When that happens, it’s not going to be pretty.

AVBB and Hrepublican.Matt while being fairly educated is a moron plain and simple.Yes, Islamic extremism is a anger but how did it get that way here? By large amounts of legal immigration and also by huge and I mean huge amounts of illegal aliens flooding to this country, while some are good people others are just plain criminals who don’t work and hate americans. The facts speak for themselves and anyone who wants to know the truth need only go to numbersusa.com and immigrationcouners.com Unchecked immigration is bad for america in many ways.

And I am not “reined in”nor tow any lines but my own and were I stand. Better to die on my feet then live on my knees. Those that have no courage nor care more how others think of what people think of them have no respect from me. Those that don’t exercise their rights lose them. All you have to do is look at England and those countries whose citizens are disarmed. You can get years in prison for defending self and family for Calif. that also holds true.Only the rich and politicians get speedy service from law enforcement.

Wow, itsallgreek. Looks like you’ve got a chip on your shoulder. What’s the problem in OC? Rent too high or is it the traffic/congestion? For the price you pay for a tiny old shit house out in OC, I could buy a mansion here. I moved away from OC years ago because of that.

Reagan is an example they all bring up but what he did was bad for america, he started with deregulation. then amnesty for illegal aliens, then throwing the mentally ill out on the streets to be homeless and victimized. Reagan was a scumbag and a hypocrite. He raised the age where you could retire and collect benefits caused he was still “working” the man was a actor for christ sakes. He never knew the meaning of hard work. And he got paid millions and had excellent health care. Like congress over paid and with excellent benefits.

.“Rodio was too laid back and failed to respond to critisism against him and missed a very important candidates debate.”
He may have gotten a few more votes, but would have lost regardless.
“The fact is Rex’s face is plastered all over billboards everywhere in the AV and his ad runs on TWC all day long, is what him elected.”
Really? So you vote based on whom’s face you see on billboards more often, and who has the majority of cable ad runs. I see.
